  • Don't waste your money
Style: Bamboo Stakes Size: 4 inch (pack of 25)
This was a terrible purchase. I would give them a 0 if I was able. We bought them in April 2020 and were told it would take 2-3 weeks for delivery. We had that much time, but we needed them in 2-3 weeks. Then, after 2-3 weeks, we saw our delivery time was extended another week. We could not cancel the order. We had to get other stakes. When the order arrived, after yet another delay, it had been about 5 weeks. We went to return them and found not only did we have to pay the 20% restocking charge, but a $20 shipping charge as well. That meant we actually had to pay $25 to return a $24 item. So we kept them. At that time, we opened the package. We found very small, thin, flimsy bamboo. They are thinner than a no. 2 pencil. If you want to use these to support plant branches or stems, don't waste your money. They are thin, flimsy and bend under any load. Truly worthless for our intended use, and costs more to return than we paid. Don't throw your money away if you need these to stake plants. They are worthless. ... show more

  • Careful, contains hitchhikers
Style: 3' Bamboo Stakes, pack of 25 Size: 3'
Lots of little black beetles inside the bamboo. Stepped on a piece in the barn today and was surprised to see a lot of frass. Broke open the bamboo and it has harbored a colony of beetles that feed on the interior. This product has been indoors since receipt, and used in a fairly sterile aquaponic environment. The Front Range of Colorado is not know to harbor bamboo pests.... ... show more

  • Superb bang for your buck!
Style: Bamboo Stakes Size: 6' (pack of 25)
I mean, they're a bunch of bamboo stakes, right? What can you possibly say about a bunch of bamboo? Quite a lot, actually. This is easily a five-star purchase, especially for the price ($23 when I bought them). These 6-foot bamboo stakes were all of a consistent height when they arrived and were consistently straight. I bought two bundles, so 50 stakes in all, and had none that were crooked or bowed. The thickness varied from a bit reedy (about the thickness of a sharpie marker) to quite hefty (a little bigger around than the circumference of a nickel, close to a quarter at times). Most leaned towards the thicker end of that scale. VERY sturdy, not at all bendable unless you're trying. Of the 50 stakes I got, the majority were clean and smooth. About 6-8 has tapered "spikes" of sort growing from the ribbed connections of each length of pole, running along the length of the pole, i.e. not sticking outward but running parallel to the pole. They are not intrusive or sharp, though one or two required a little care because if you accidentally slid your hand along the stake hard you'd jab yourself on these growths. Minor issue, doesn't get in the way of their functionality, just something to keep in mind when you're driving them into the ground. Wear gloves! I've used these to stake a variety of plants (tomatoes, sunflowers, pole beans), as well as to stake in chicken wire fences and to create a tripod trellis or two. They have proven easy to work with, quite sturdy, especially in my highly windy yard, and highly versatile. And the price? Miles better than most 6-foot stakes. One thing to keep in mind for people who have never used bamboo stakes before: If left in the ground for a couple of years, it CAN root and begin to grow. It's rare, but I've seen it happen, so it's a good idea to pull them out at the end of the season and store them over the winter. Bottom line: superb bang for your buck! ... show more

  • Terrible product! Misleading photo! Useless!
Style: Bamboo Stakes Size: 4 inch (pack of 25)
Terrible product! Misleading photo! Most sticks were bowed and rotten! Very thin bamboo, many not even 1/4” thick, which caused the sticks to break when inserting into the soil. I messaged the seller and did not receive any correspondence back. Useless product and total waste of time and money for me. ... show more

  • Great for making a trellis

These are prefect size for making your own trellis' with just small zip ties and branch trimmers. Also makes great plant supports.

  • Great for my Garden!
Style: Bamboo Stakes Size: 8 inch (pack of 25)
Got these for my garden for growing string beans, sugar snap peas, and snow peas. They are really strong although I did manage to snap one, but that was my mistake of putting the more narrow tip in the ground and pushing too hard. I honestly think they are closer to 9 ft tall, they are slightly longer than my 8 ft raised garden beds. (see picture) All sticks are straight and about 1 inch wide (on average since they are slightly tapered). I love them. I can't wait to see how well they do this season. ... show more

  • Purchased in 2014 five stars quality & purchased again in 2016 one star quality
Style: Bamboo Stakes Size: 6' (pack of 25)
I purchased this same item 2-years ago and was quite pleased so I just ordered 2 more packages. This time it was not as good an experience. I opened the first package and I would say 85% or more were 1/4 inch diameter on one side and just a hair over 1/4 of an inch on the other side. This makes the bamboo VERY flimsy and bends when trying to tie my tomatoes to them (even though they were stuck into the soil at a minimum depth of 18"). To rectify I put two pieces together to help hold. So, just out of curiosity, I just went out to review the second package I purchased and sure enough the majority in this package were made up of this same small diameter on both ends. I don't think I will order again until Hydrofarm, Inc. changes it's internal specs to ensure 6' lengths are at least 1/2 diameter or more on BOTH ends. ... show more

  • Great for both Animals AND Plants
Style: Bamboo Stakes Size: 6' (pack of 25)
These arrived just in time! I overplanted with tomatoes (beefy, roma, and cherry) this year in the garden, and with the way they were still growing I splurged on the 6-foot stakes - and boy did we need them! Strong and sturdy, these fit the bill well. The thicknesses differ slightly within the bundles too, which is perfect for using on different plants/stages of growth too as plants need more or less support. They also provided excellent perches for the birds that flew in to enjoy the sunflowers I'd planted nearby - so from both the human and animal words, we give these bamboo stakes an A+ !! After using them for a season, they are also still very strong and have little if any signs of weakening in the bottom foot that I'd pushed into the ground, which means I will be able to get multiple years out of them, even though my soil isn't the best draining - one of the best garden investments I have made in a long time for sure! ... show more
