  • Expensive but certainly improves the look of an older car’s engine bay.
Size: 12.5 Ounce
Review of Griot's Garage 20244 Engine Bay Dressing 12.5oz, white, 12.5 Ounce @ $28.98 This product arrived quickly and was in good retail shape. I find the product somewhat expensive for a 12.5 ounce can. It seems to be a good quality product with great reviews. These positive reviews are why I chose this product as opposed to some of the others. I have not ever tried any engine cleaning or dressing products before. This was purchased mainly to first be used/tested out on my older vehicle, a 2002 Ford Taurus. It doesn’t have a lot of miles on it for the year (about 138,000), but the previous owners lived on a gravel road, and it was subjected to a lot of dirt and dust. The product is labeled as made in the USA with a 100% guarantee. These are pluses to me! I first cleaned the engine bay with the same brand cleaner. Then I used this product for the final dressing up. Since it is expensive, and I wanted to have some left over to use on my 2016 Ford F150 (81,000 miles), I opted for only one coat. The ad suggests to lightly mist for a satin finish or apply multiple coats for a glossier one. It claims to help the treated surfaces be more resistant to dirt, so time will tell. I followed the suggested instructions to wipe down the areas after applying the dressing so as to not have as shiny of an appearance. Application was simple enough and the product dispersed well. I took before and after photos that included before using the cleaner, after the cleaner and before the dressing, and then after the dressing. It feels as though I have about half a can left after this job. I did not like that a warning on the label says to not get the dressing on painted areas or glass. This made it more difficult by having to cover areas of my vehicle, and it was unfortunately a windy day (just something to keep in mind). ... show more

  • This product really works!
Size: 12.5 Ounce
I’m really impressed how well this product worked on my engine components. Really made all the black components shine! Ended up with a really sharp black reflective look. I’ll definitely use this product again. I’ve yet to drive her but I’ll update my review to report how everything held up after some miles. ... show more

  • Great stuff
The engine cleaner is good, but I can't say whether it's better (or worse) than using plain old Gunk. The dressing though is utterly fantastic. I did a thorough detailing of my car in August. I keep my engine bay clean anyway, but I've never tried anything other than a quick wipe-down with 303 or a rubber dressing on the hoses/intake-box. With everything clean and dry I sprayed everything down with the dressing. Initially it looked like a really over-done Armor All job. Very wet, very greasy looking. The next day the overwhelming "greasy" look started to fade a bit, leaving everything looking just fresh and detailed - dressed and somewhat wet, but certainly not like Armor All. Now, three months later, the engine bay still looks fresh. Can't complain about that at all! ... show more

  • Great product!
I bought this a few months back for a project car that I'm working on. I decided to hold off on the engine bay clean-up until next winter, so I put it on the shelf. I was working on my daily driver last weekend, a 2010 Volvo XC60. I've only put 45,000 miles on it in the 8+ years that I've owned the car, but I've been parking it out the driveway for the past year while I've been working on something else in the garage. The debris from the Willow Oak in our front yard has been accumulating in the rain ducts and in the engine bay, clogging things up and creating a good situation for rust, so I thought I'd give this stuff a shot. I sprayed the engine bay (on sunny, 85 degree day) with low pressure water (the 'garden' setting of my hose nozel), sprayed the compartment well w/ the cleaner and let it sit for 5 min. I gave a quick second coat of the cleaner and then scrubbed a bit w/ a very soft bristle brush (2-3 minutes, tops) and then rinsed w/ the same low-pressure stream of water. I grabbed the leaf blower and blew 95% of the water off of the top of things and shut the hood... On my daily driver, I just wanted clean and orderly w/ nowhere for water to collect and form rust... I didn't need beautiful. This morning I popped the hood, to see how it all came out and was absolutely amazed! Seriously... it was crazy! I'm SO very happy with the results, and I haven't even tried the dressing yet! ... show more

  • Best engine bay detailer
Size: 12.5 Ounce
This is the best engine bay dressing I've found. Leaves all the plastic looking dark with a satin sheen. Highly recommend using a degreaser first, letting everything dry out, then apply this. Your mechanic will appreciate you.
