  • This filter water bottle really works!
We bought the Grayl 24 oz GeoPress specifically because we were traveling to Africa, and we were not certain we could trust the water supplies. Probably the best way to write a review is to do a pros and cons breakdown. PROs 1) This filter really works! We encountered a wide variety of water sources, and every time the Grayl produced filtered water that smelled and tasted good. I say that because some of the water smelled a bit funky before filtration; but after using the Grayl, it smelled good. 2) The filter is easy to use. You just fill the outer vessel about 3/4 full, place the filter/inner vessel inside it, and push down. The filtered water fills the inner vessel and is immediately ready to use. 3) The filter is relatively compact. The entire system is no bigger than a large water bottle. 4) The Grayl system seems very well made. We used it almost every day while in Africa, and it worked perfectly every time. 5) It basically filters everything: bacteria, protozoa, viruses, and odors. During the entire month we were in Africa, we experienced no gastrointestinal issues due to "bad" water because we only drank filtered water from the Grayl. CONs 1) The Grayl system is fairly heavy. When you are trying to pack light, the Grayl system uses up a bit of your weight budget. There have been some reviewers that complained of water leaking around the seal between the inner and outer vessels. I believe they simply were not using the system correctly. If you take a little care and line things up as they were intended, it works perfectly every time. Also, some reviewers have complained that it takes too much effort to plunge the inner vessel when filtering. There is definitely some resistance when you are plunging (filtering), but if you are patient, it really does not take a significant effort. My wife used it frequently, and she applies a lot less force than I do. Bottom line, the Grayl filter system is an easy, convenient, and effective method for purifying water when you are traveling. I highly recommend this product and believe it is one of the best filter systems available. ... show more

  • Great for travel
Color: Oasis Green
I bought this for a trip to Africa. I used tap water and never got sick. I loved the drink spout, but also that I could open the whole top, it made it super easy to use my filtered water for brushing my teeth, or adding an electrolyte tab. The bottle was durable, but also attractive. I had no issues with leaking. ... show more

  • Amazing product
Color: Oasis Green
Took this “holy grail” on a 10 day deep backcountry trip. Was easy and use and allowed me quick access to water anywhere I could find it. Realistically, takes about 15 seconds to filter two cups of water. This will be an essential item for all my future hunts!

  • Simple, fast, effective, great tasting water.
Color: Oasis Green
I used it on a trip to Canada with a group of scouts. It turned out that my geo press was the only water filter we had for 12 people on our overnighter in the back country. We could have boiled our water but pressing was so much faster and you can drink it right away. After about 20 presses it did slow down a bit but continued to work. After 40-50 presses in about 6 hours it it really slowed down but still worked. Press time was about 1-2 minute or so. It's now on the "need to get one" list for most of the adults and scouts. Suggestions carry a spares filter but at $30 a pop make sure you maximize it's life span. ... show more

  • Famtastic!
Color: Olive Drab
Best piece of backpacking gear I’ve bought in years. Work perfect. Easy to use.

  • Great design+advanced filter, but 1/3 of wasted captivity
Color: Olive Drab
Pro:: very good design — soft padded where it needs to be; 10 years warranty; Drink mix ready — electro-adsorption filter won’t let some drink mix pass, so some other electro-adsoption based bottles is not able to mix drinks; Very powerful filtration — this bottle does filter viruses, tested by a Lab in Gainesville, FL. One press, whole bottle to use, not just to drink, but can also be poured into another bottle, or used to cook dehydrated food. Con: so far I have only one thing I don’t like. The filter takes about 1/3 of the space. If the manufacturer managed to design the outer+inner sealing to be tight without the filter installed, then the whole capacity can be used as a normal large bottle when we don’t need the filtration. ... show more

  • Makes office water tolerable
Color: Peak White
Wasn't sure how'd I like the bottle. But it's exceeded every expectation considering the price. I was buying plastic water bottles because the water dispenser at work tasted horrible. After going through the filter, it tastes soooo much better. Great product.
