I got this to mount as the high-mount 3rd brake light on the Astro truck bed shell on my 2002 F-150 Lariat. I saw reviews about water getting into the light so I sealed the edges with silicone sealant where the back and the clear parts were placed together. The openings for the power wires were a little bigger than the wires, so I covered that point with sealant as well. The wires were plenty long to replace the brake light that had burned out, and fit perfectly into the recessed part of an air fin mounted on top & back of the bed shell. No issues with connecting it up to the existing connectors and worked perfectly when pressing on the brake pedal. So far so good and like the new looking light. Recommend as long as you apply silicone sealant around the edges and the wire entry point first. ... show more

Do not waste your money on this product. Out of the box this worked very well, and I was extremely careful about sealing the casing to prevent water problems.... but it died as soon as temperatures dropped below freezing for an extended period. No water got inside of it. It just quit working. Basically this is a junk product that isn't worth $5. I managed to get 32 days of use out of it. That's close to a dollar a day... The seller contacted me and offered a refund, then refused to provide a refund. This seems like a dishonest scam. ... show more

Light is plenty bright. However there were several reviews about water ingress/ failure so I bought light with intent to address these potential shortcomings myself. When I received the light was as I expected. Ok build but def not Lexus quality. For the price it could probably be a bit better but not a huge issue to upgrade which I knew I was going to do from the start. What I found was: The black rubber(?) plug, that wires enter into light enclosure through, were slightly larger than the wires so its very possible water could enter through here. Can't really tell if black, back panel, was sealed sufficiently so this area was suspect as well (based on reviews no testing I did). So here is what I did (belt and suspenders & Two is One mode): First I tested light using car battery- it worked. I bought small tube of exterior rated, clear, silicone. Slathered the groove around back panel where it mates with larger piece. Then pushed the silicone into groove to make sure gap was thoroughly filled. Also filled wire-entry holes in black plug with silicone. Not a pretty job but I was looking to maximize penetration of silicone not art. I let this dry overnight. Removed old light and cleaned muck and loose paint from molded indention that light rests in. Then I cleaned whole area with acetone. Next day I peeled off tape from botton of new light and fed wires into existing hole in canopy. I used a liberal amount of silicone to fill hole in canopy, around wires, to prevent ingress of water into canopy. Note- the Included light attachment tape seemed to hold fine but I also filled seam between light and canopy with silicone to further waterproof / assist in retention of light. This also hid most of my original sloppy silicone work. Let the siliconed assembly dry over night before moving wires around for final electrical work. Did not want to inadvertently create a hole in my silicone seal by pulling on a wire before silicone had set up. After silicone was set up I then used some female/male wire ends (that I bought myself) and electrical tape to make up the electrical connection inside the canopy. At this point I am not worried about water ingress or the light to shake loose. As long as the LED's don't fail for some other reason this repair should be good to go. I will update this if something does fail. Hopefully extra work will be worth it. 10/17/2024 still going strong and no leaks. ... show more
