This worked very well. It held my Garmin - no slipping nor sliding. Be sure to clean the spot for good adhesion. It seem to be able to accomodate several different size devices. It's great for travel too!

Even though I’ve rated this three stars in the initial three rating areas, my overall rating is four stars. Here’s why. I’ve been using a fairly old Garmin Nuvi six inch navigation device in my summer cars for several years, because they were not equipped with factory navigation. The Garmin beanbag base worked fairly well, except on this Chrysler Crossfire, which has a very firm suspension and is the type of car that begs to be driven hard. I’ve put about a couple of hundred miles on the car since installing this base. The dashboard on this car is as slippery as ice; it’s amazing how slippery it is. The beanbag base would slide off, hard, every time I turned or accelerated a tiny bit too fast. So it was useless on this car. The base under review is, so far, keeping the Garmin in place. However....I have not made any sudden turns, stops, or jack rabbit type starts. I’ve been driving fairly conservatively, but there are a lot of rough roads around here, and driving usually includes a great deal of stop and go streets. I’m almost certain the first time I decide to floor the gas pedal from a stop, the base and Garmin will fly off the dash. It’s quite wobbly. There are very angles available, none of which are completely satisfactory. But I can live with the most perpendicular to the dash angle. So, I’ve overall rated this base four stars, because it seemed like the best available option I could find. I refuse to stick anything to my windshield, mainly because the windshield is already quite small. I fully expect to have to resort to some other type of adhesive for this base, probably sooner rather than later. ... show more

    • Allows you to see road ahead plus speedometer a safer alternative to suction cup
Easy to install and allows you to view the road ahead well as keeping an eye on the speedometer. ALso holds most cell phones and most GPS units. No suction cup marks on windshield to alert "Thieves". Take your phone with you in pocket or purse or put GPS unit in the trunk. Folds down flat on dashboard and has a LOW Profile when closed. It is spring loaded to hold a phone or GPS. A little pricey compared to a suction cup but is easier to view and reminds you to remove your phone or GPS when you stop. It is a win-win for any traveler who uses map quest or google maps or regular GPS. Most people can take their GPS in their home and plan a trip by entering the address and vary their route as desired. I would still keep my GPS in a dedicated "Bag" in the trunk or elsewhere in an SUV and not in the console. ... show more

    • Holds my Garmin GPS device perfectly
I’ve tried a number of dashboard mounting devices for my Garmin GPS and this is the best . My Garmin has a slightly curved back and the power cable is also on the back. Regular phone holders won’t work. I went with the version that sticks to my dash instead of the beanbag version so I don’t have to worry about it falling off when I hit a bump. It seems to be secure. Just try it out in places you might mount it first and then remove the cover over the sticky pad and place it where you want—nothing to it! ... show more
