I love the built-in coffee grinder. What keeps this from being 5 star is that it is very messy to clean up. It’s not in the directions but if I use preground coffee I still use a paper filter just for ease of cleaning.

    • Great with one oversight
This thing does what it supposed to, make good cold brew. I’m still experimenting with the ratios, brew time, and initial water temp. Except for the one major con, this would probably be getting 5 stars. Let’s start with pro’s 1. This thing completely seals. Unlike other cold brewers out there with a spout, this one doesn’t have any gaps exposing the coffee to the fridge air. 2. The filter goes deep exposing more of the grounds to the water. 3. Filter hole size is finer than others out there. You’ll still get small grounds coming through which is inevitable with these kinds of filters, but if desired can always run it through a secondary filter. Major Con 1. The seal needs to be moved from the filter to cap for storage. Wish they would have just extended the length of the cap and add an additional seal on the cap so that switching back and forth wasn’t necessary. Another, although less desirable, fix would be to include an extra seal so you don’t have to remove the seal from the filter each time (which can get messy if not fully cleaned yet). Minor Cons 1. It’s a bit difficult to clean, you’ll need to find an appropriately sized brush to clean the inside. Would have been nice if they just included a cheap one, but that of course would add cost to it. 2. Maybe this a bit of a fail on my part, but I can’t ever seem to get all the coffee grounds in without spilling over the sides. Since it is cold brew, you’ll be using a lot of grounds and therefore a bigger measuring cup. A funnel or something would have been nice to have included, but again, added cost. I’ll just be Mcgyvering my own on this one. ... show more

I feel like 2 years of being an excellent barista and continuous coffee learner helps me place this in a better perspective besides saying "It tastes good", but taste is good either way, lol. I have brewed coffees of all types and flavors more ways than I ever care to replicate but one of the reasons I lurrrrrve "cold brewed" ice coffee is packing a punch and reducing the palate overload of "stronger coffee" flavors. A minutia of detail in this story, your more lightly roasted coffee beans contain more caffeine than your darker, "Unholy Boldness" roasts. The difference is minimal but it does exist. Secondly, steeping your coffee grounds using a method this contraption provides does two things: 1) it allows for a more complete release of caffeine into the substance meaning you leave less caffeine in the waste and absorb more of the caffeine than average(per size/portion) and thusly get more of that rush of energy for your buck and 2) the flavor, which can be spotty with traditional pour over, nonexistent with typical "set and forget" drip brewers, and consequently expensive at your local shop, can be conditionally repeatable and thoroughly enjoyable with this quite inexpensive little a brewer. Remember that you want to have a coarser grind setting anyway, because of the metal filter as compared to a paper/mesh filter, but also with cold brewing, it has such a long steeping duration that you can get away with a French Press type of coarse to give you that consistency of flavor between different brewing methods. My choice of bean is Veranda by Starbucks. Typical but light, rich in texture, and packed full of delicious, necessary-to-function caffeine. Enjoy! ... show more

Listen close because my mouth is full of delicious coffee!! It's been that way since I got my hands on this Gourmia cold brew pitcher!! I ordered the pitcher because I thought it looked like a piece of art! I had never heard of cold brewing coffee before! Immediately upon receiving my pitcher I put a shine on it. To me it looked just like crystal and boy it does take a shine real good. So I set it out here on the kitchen counter to fancy it up a little. It sat there looking pretty for a couple of days while I was studying this diffuser thing. So I just got a little curious what cold brew coffee was about! I looked at the instructions and picked up on it real quick... Excuse me while I take another sip.... Mixed up the ingredients put it in my fridge and then forgot about it until I reached in the fridge for orange juice the next day. Why now that was convenient... All I had to do was to nuke it in the microwave. Ii gotta tell everyone that was a unique darn experience. Now I can't say that I am giving my press.. But the first thing that I do every morning is... Well now I guess it's the second thing I do is nuke me a cup of cold brew Sumatra dark roast. You really should get one of these if you love coffee! The pitcher looks real nice here in the kitchen... Dresses it up! ... show more
