  • Very fun game BUT….
Platform: Xbox Series X Edition: Standard (Amazon Exclusive)
Really good game doesn't deserve the hate it gets and the 30fps is hardly noticeable tbh runs very smooth on series x HOWEVER i hate the fact that this game locked 3 ability points behind about 120 total collectables hidden all across the map. If this game didnt force me to do this i would keep it at 5 stars but because you locked 3 ability points behind these tedious collectables i had to remove a star i hated doing that because i love the game but locking ability points behind all these collectables that really drops a star from me. I prefer collectables to be optional for either achievements of special cosmetics, not have actual ability points locked behind it whoever though that was a good idea is a moron ... show more

  • Actually fun!
Platform: Xbox Series X Edition: Standard (Amazon Exclusive)
Despite the brutal reviews, the game is actually a really fun good time. The easiest way to describe the discrepancy is that reviewers are upset it's not Arkham Knight, but it was never trying to be. It's more like Arkham Creed with less bloat; if you like modern AC games you'll probably enjoy this.

  • NOT FOR XBOX ONE!
Platform: Xbox Series X Edition: Standard (Amazon Exclusive)
I preordered this game and was super excited to play it, until I found out that it did not work on Xbox One machines. This was not advertised at all and I was very upset about it. Just so you know if you don't have and Xbox X/S do not buy this game. You will be angry when you get the message I got.

  • It's not very good and it's got a lot of flaws
Platform: Xbox Series X Edition: Standard (Amazon Exclusive)
First off, it is not an Arkham game, it's a complete reboot. That being said it borrows a lot from that series in terms of gameplay, but not very well. The plus side of this game: it's a fresh take on Batman video games, the character models look great with (limited) customization, there are a lot of interesting concepts introduced here (even if they're mostly poorly executed), and it's got co-op campaign. Now the bad: just about everything, but not severely. Combat has a little flash in the finishing animations, but it's mostly mash melee and dodge, occasionally hit your super attack, and ranged attacks are almost useless. It gets really boring when you fight waves of enemies in the dozens and all your doing is mashing a button and dodging when an enemy is shooting at you while you beat everything up. Movement is also just clunky and awful, it feels like something from a PS1-PS2 era 3rd person action game (there's no dedicated 'jump' button in this action/adventure style game, just a generic 'action' button you use with the left stick to drive your character around this 3-D world). The movement is so clunky, you'll end up fighting the controls to get in and out of combat when it doesn't recognize an ambush attack off of a pledge or hand rail instead of a punch. Traversing the open world parts is a complete chore, even with the Batbike as an option, as you spend most of the time on for using the grappling hook (the bike is painfully slow and dull to drive). The story leaves a lot to be desired as the introduction to this new game that needs to get out from under Arkham's shadow. There's a full roster of great villains in this world, but the ones that show up get brief cameos in mostly routine side missions that don't really add anything to the main storyline of Batman's acolytes following a bread crumb trail of banal mystery left after he dies (this is the first thing that happens in the game, not really a spoiler). The biggest problem is the implementation of the loot gear and crafting system here. It feels slapped on because this system is what's popular in gaming right now. You are constantly gathering blueprints and resources to build those blueprints (armor, melee weapon, ranged weapon, that's it) to increase your stats. Eventually you add modifiers that can add elemental affects and damage/defense, but it doesn't really add anything exciting to the combat, just more numbers to manage. It comes off very tacked on and underdeveloped, and purely there to sandbag your experience across all 4 main characters that are interchangeable, but don't share loot, only XP and resources. In the end its very 'meh'. By the end I was forcing myself through the game to get to the finale, because there wasn't a well designed hook ANYWHERE in this game like the previous Arkham series that had great story telling, amazing combat with fun gadgets (scarce gadgets here as well), and incredible voice acting from the greats (the dialog in Gotham Knights is boring, generic, and at times so poorly written it doesn't make sense, "Don't post up guys, stay on guard for vigilantes!" What? Was this written in a different language with bad translation?). It's poor execution of interesting ideas and bad gaming mechanics, without any story or characterization to keep you engaged, makes it almost awful, but playable. Maybe a solid $20 experience, definitely not a AAA next-gen experience. ... show more

  • What a Dissapointment
Platform: Xbox Series X Edition: Standard (Amazon Exclusive)
Well, first off the game is very repetitive. You do the same stuff over and over again and none of it feels to have any actual effect. Like in Arkham knight, you felt like you were doing something as the city became clearer and clearer of threats. Here? Nada. None of that. Not to mention only three major batman villains as side quests. And these finished Waaaaaaay too quickly. Like there was no payoff to it! The city feels very dead, seriously dead. It's very bland, especially when compared to the Rocksteady games which I probably shouldn't have expected this to be like but still! They tried to copy it in so many other ways and wound up not doing anything good. The story Started to save it for me, but then just ended waaaay to soon. It was also very cliche. I saw the villain reveal coming a mile away and the ending boss battle? Leaves you with zero sense of satisfaction. The customization was kinda cool I guess? But there just didn't feel to be that many options open to it. Ugggh I wanted this game to be good. I really, really did and I gave it a chance and kept waiting for it to be awesome but it just didn't pay off. Bland character designs too. Just...man what a disappointment ... show more

  • Wait for a sale
Platform: Xbox Series X Edition: Standard (Amazon Exclusive)
First off, this game is NOT worth the next-gen price of $69.99. The game looks like a 360 game. For them to cancel the past gen versions midway through development to focus solely on next-gen, you would assume the game would look amazing and would take advance of next-gen power. It looks like crap for the most part. My biggest gripe with this game is that the developers said (like a week before release) that it would be only 30 FPS with no graphical options. Disappointing, but I would have been OK with it if was a stable 30 FPS...it's not stable. It can hardly keep the game at 30 FPS. Other gripes that I have: 2 -player co-op only. Why have 4 characters and only 2 player co-op? Ohhh probably cause the game can hardly handle it with 2 people playing. Also story wise, why are you out solo and your other members are just chilling at the Belfry? It doesn't feel like a Gotham Knights game, more like a "pick your character that you want to play as while the other characters wait at home base." I already had 3 hard crashes for this game. Please don't buy it at full price. Wait for a steep sale (like maybe $). But only if you're a fan of the Batman universe. Otherwise, just avoid this trash all together. ... show more
