I wanted a plastic free and food grade sieve for making nut milk etc. and this works as a sieve with odd, somewhat cumbersome pull-out handles. Only after purchasing did I realize that the organic nut milk bag was all I needed. I do not actually own a sieve, though, so I can now use this for rice, since before when I used my colander it would lose some rice. I'm sure in my product making I will find another use for this item besides rice I do not bee keep (or eat honey, it's too sweet/not to my taste) so I cannot say how it works for all that, but it works well as a sieve. Very fine mesh. I'm a little unsure as to how to wash this item. It does not say dishwasher safe, so I will assume it is not. I suppose I'll just have to use a dish brush instead of a cloth. ... show more

    • Sturdy but they missed a bit on size
This is a good sturdy filter. The arms that extend to support it over a bucket let it wobble but are secure otherwise. the only thing I found frustrating was that it was SO CLOSE to being the perfect size to fit over a 2-gallon bucket exactly. Only a few more millimeters of lip around the edge and it would sit in perfectly, but instead it tends to slip and sit at a funny angle but won't go down far enough for the arms to stabilize it. ... show more

    • I love the concept but the product needs improvement
I love the concept but the product needs improvement. 1) it does not come close to fitting a standard 5 gallon bucket. I try not to drop cappings between the bucket and strainer but the gap is huge & re-filtering would be unnecessary if more thought went into the design. 2) this item should be made out of 316 stainless steel not 301 stainless steel. How can I tell? It stained rust after my first use despite cleaning and hand drying with a towel. Again this is thoughtlessness in the design. If they ever decide to make a quality product that addresses these 2 issues I'll be glad to buy it but in the mean time it's just a cheap china knock-off. ... show more

    • Good honey filter
Does a good job of filtering. The first stage is bowl shaped that can hold comb and more honey while the 2nd stage is processing. Accordingly, it wasn't necessary to stop the flow out of the expeller barrel at all to accommodate any flow rate filter limitation. I'm a first-year beekeeper and my mentor says it's the best gadget e he's ever seen. In the end, each jar had an almost imperceptible particulate residue that at first we thought were bubbles. After a few days it all rose to the top and it could be scooped out with a teaspoon. Under a magnifying glass u could see it was comb. But to filter that out requires lab grad filters that are $$$.     • Easy to clean and durable.
Used this for the second time and are loving it. This unit sits very secure on top of stainless steel bowls and plastic buckets, the Honey strained looks clear and the clean up is great. The sieve comes apart into two pieces and after the bees did their cleaning, the unit is easily washed with a regular kitchen brush. No sharp corner to rip your fingers of have the brush hang up on. Very well made item. Glad I choose this over the plastic inserts. I may confidently leave this outside for the bees to clean up without a worry about the heat or wind harming it. ... show more

We used this for honey filtration last week and I have to say it's great! It's a high quality item that should last for years. Based on reading other double sieve product descriptions and looking carefully at their photos, It's my belief that they are all made just the same. They may even be made at the same factory. At the time of this review, Goodland Bee Supply had the best price at around twenty bucks and free shipping. Since they are all basically the same I recommend shopping for price. ... show more
