Positives: Looks pretty cool. I bought it for two reasons and one was that I thought the design was really cool and it really is as nice as it looks in the picture. The volume knob is really awesome. I always like the knobs better than up/down buttons and such. The blue glow is nice and not blinding at all. It is actually like a 'glow' rather than a 'light' which is nice. Its pretty cool to have the mic/headphones jack too because my PC is a decent bit under a desk that I don't like climbing under to plug in. Which is the second reason I bought it and what is going to lead me to the negatives. Negatives: The headphone jack hums pretty badly. I also bought a new pair of headphones and wasn't sure which was the cause but after plugging directly into the PC vs into the gogroove speaker it was obvious that it was this thing. I'm pretty tolerant of things like this but its even kind of bad for me. Which kind of ruins this for me and I will probably be looking to replace this a lot sooner than I had hoped. The next bad thing is the sound itself, no headphones, is really not that great. There is no low end at all. And to put this in to perspective, I am not exactly an audiophile at all. I've been using these little usb speakers that came with my old Gateway PC from like 10 years ago. This was meant to replace those but those honestly sound a lot better. This is going to sound really negative but to be honest... I'm not real sure what good this thing is for anyone. Its too big to really pack up and carry around with a laptop or tablet and the sound quality is about the same as most laptop speakers anyway. It looks nice on a desk but the sound quality is not good enough to be the sole desktop speaker. If you have a separate subwoofer and some L/R speakers to go along with this, maybe might be useful. It makes a decent center speaker I suppose. Also I just want to point out the tilt is a great idea. It needs more though. Unless you're like 12 feet tall the speakers are still pointing very much toward the ceiling. So if you read this GoGroove, Re-engineer this to have about triple the angle on the tilt and add something to give it a little more bass and you'll have a really nice little soundbar style speaker set here. But if you're looking for something cheap but decent enough to manage your desktop's sound (or even laptop/mobile device) then I'd look elsewhere. It is a bit tough because of how flooded things seem to be with these mini usb/bluetooth mobile type speakers to find decent desktop solutions without paying hundreds on overpriced audiophile speakers... I'm thinking about just going old school and building up an old analog stereo system! :( ... show more

Great form factor and pretty good sound from a small box (16.5" long, 2.5" wide with a nice tilted surface facing towards you). The bar looks great on a desk in front of a monitor. It provides an easy place to plug in a MIC or headphones (Plugging headphones does just what you would think it shuts off the speakers so you can listen in private). There's not much bass here, but the sound is clear. 1-star off for an odd quirk -- when you turn it off, there's a series of crackles that lasts for about 3 seconds. Once they are gone, it's quiet. It almost went back to the mothership for that, but I decided I could live with it because the rest of the package works so well. It would also be nice the logo were a bit less obtrusive. Pros: - "adequate" sound for SKYPE calls, playing "background" music or watching NETFLIX - Great form factor -- the big friendly knob allows you to easily change the sound level or turn it off entirely - Convenient port replications for MIC, headphones Cons: - odd "crackle" for about 3 seconds when turning it off - "GO GROOVE/SonaVerse UBR" logo is too prominent for such an otherwise subtle unit. Recommendation: If you mostly make SKYPE calls, listen to the occasional music/video service and are not looking for big bass, this is a great unit for your desk. ... show more

Does play sound ok but with volume up, it hisses at you which I did read in other reviews. I didn't destroy its rating however, as the design is nice and the over sound quality at mid range volumes is good. Also my cat Bengal_Linux seems to like sitting in front of it.

I got this for my computer at work. I am tired of having my speakers back behind my monitors and having to reach back there to get to the volume controls. Although this is made to rest on the desktop, I wanted it mounted to my monitor so when I grabbed the volume button, it wont move all over the place. I used some heavy duty double sided mounting tape. It seems to be a perfect fit that way. I did realize that the connector holes on the bottom might be a little difficult to access in this position, but my monitor will easily raise up, so it's not a problem. Sound quality is decently good but you wouldn't call it impressive. I basically need it for various computer beeps and chimes (notifications), audio for youtube videos, and sometimes I play music in my Amazon music player. It's handy mounted like I show in my picture, because if I get a phone call, I can quickly get to the large volume dial and crank it down. I will probably order a second one for my home computer so I can get my desk neatened up. ... show more
