  • Fit My 2015 GMC Sierra
This fixed my "Trailer Brake Light" perfectly. I had tried replacing the module on the dash and that didn't work. So I tried this and it worked perfect. When I took the old part apart I found the positive lead had arced against the case and made a small hole in the case, causing the warning light to come on. The two parts together cost about $115, way better that paying the dealership over a $1000 to diagnose and repair. It was real simple to put in. If you can change a fuse you can do this. There are several videos on Youtube. ... show more

  • Fixed the Problem
Electric brake service warning was on and earlier getting chimes. When I changed it out I was getting the warning indicator everytime I started the truck. Now all is fine. Removed spare tire and laid on my back and everything was easy to get to. Be careful with the little red lock tab on the connection. ... show more

  • Fixed my trailer brake warning message issue on '16 Chev Silverado 2500HD Turbo Diesel
The 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Turbo Diesel has MANY complaints about its Integrated Electronic Brake Control Unit, and nearly as many varied suggested repairs for each. Some suggest replacing the slider controller in the dash. Others say to replace this module. GM wants to steer people away from truck parts, asking them to analyze & repair their trailer's faulty wiring. Other individuals find broken wires in their electronic brakes, while still more people find issue with the brake harness & its connecting ends. In my truck's case, the Internet suggested (by massive amounts of people) to replace a different module--a smaller plastic one--that was less expensive than this. Fortunately Amazon was able to show that module is NOT compatible with my year/model truck, and they pointed me to this module instead. I called the local GM dealer who confirmed this part number is right for my truck. I'd already replaced the in-dash "squeeze" controller without any improvement. Next in line was this module. It this didn't fix it, I'd be looking into the wiring harness, connectors, and eventually the wires back to each of the four electric brakes in my fifth wheel. Fortunately I didn't have to go past this module--it fixed the brakes perfectly! The problem had been random dashboard chimes & displays "Check Trailer Braking System" or "Service Trailer Brakes", etc. Sometimes that annoying & repeating alert would show up without the trailer attached, so I felt pretty confident the wiring in the trailer wasn't the issue, even though GM wanted folks to spend their time there. Once I had this one installed (I couldn't find any Youtube videos for how--they all show the smaller black plastic module, and that one uses a different removal/replacement process than this one), the brake controller stopped showing dashboard errors, stopped sending the alert chime, and began showing a couple of nice display indicators about the brakes. One indicator is a new orange bar that moves from left to right, indicating how much brake power is being applied by the electronic brake control unit--in percentages. The other is a digital readout of the actual percentages. Not only did this part fix the problem, it brought functionality to my truck that I hadn't seen before (since I bought the truck used). This was the right part for this make/model/year truck. I was pleased this was the ONLY module required--some Youtube resources & TSB's suggest replacing TWO modules where this one is located (above the spare tire, mounted to the bottom of the cargo box). A call to the local GM shop confirmed that the second module there does NOT have anything to do with the electronic trailer braking system. I'd been prepared to buy two modules, and was happy to only have to buy one. ... show more

It does the job, haven’t had any recurring problems and a reasonable price.

  • Trailer brakes not working 2015 chevy 1500
I don't normally leave reviews. In the hopes of helping someone else here goes. So I tried all the easy stuff first. I replaced the brake controller switch on the dash, checked fuses, changed my tail lights and lastly was this module. Upon inspection of my old module I found the the pin had corroded. I cleaned it up and reinstalled and it worked. My question was for how long. So I just replaced it and now I have trailer brakes again. So just go right to the source. This was an exact replacement easy plug and play. Very high gm quality. Now I don't have that annoying warning and I can tow my camper safely. ... show more

  • Saved money and changed out part myself.
Part arrived in Genuine GM part packaging a day ahead of stated arrival date. It’s a fairly straight forward part change out. You’ll have to lower spare tire on the Tahoe to have easy access to part location. Be advised that it’s common to break wire bundle connector securing pin. It becomes brittle over time. Also advise wearing eye protection as old part disintegrated while removing. Once new part was installed, I used a cable tie to secure connector to part. Ops check on vehicle start up, OK! ... show more
