I’m a beginner so I wasn’t looking to spend $$$ on a table tennis paddle, but I was at least expecting all 4 of the paddles to be usable. 1 paddle had the rubber peeling off as soon as I took the protective plastic layer off of it. Another paddle has a dark blemish and indention on it, which causes unpredictable behavior when hitting the ball. So only 2 of the paddles are usable. None of the paddles weigh the same. My 4 paddles weighed: 149g, 151g, 160g, 165g. All of the paddles have a different ‘ping’ pitch when hitting the ball. Some are a high pitch ping, others are a low pitch ping… this indicates that the wood used is not consistent. For the price, these are ‘decent’ for someone looking to play ‘ping pong’ in their basement or garage… if you can get 4 that are usable. But, I would not recommend these for anyone trying to get started in table tennis. EDITED: The seller contacted me and gave me a whole new set of paddles. This time the rubber was NOT peeling off and all 4 paddles were usable. Their weight still varies from 149g to 165g, so I can't recommend these for anyone looking to get serious with table tennis. But, for families looking to play "ping pong", they're a great deal if you can get all 4 to be usable. ... show more

I recently bought a ping pong table and wanted some cheap paddles to play with my housemates. This set is great because it comes with two different colored balls (orange and white) and they aren't cheap balls either. The bounce is pretty good and the weight of the paddle is surprisingly heavy and has a good thickness (unlike the cheap plywood paddles that are paper thin). It feels good when holding backhand and front hand. At first, I thought the face of the paddle was too smooth so wouldn't get a good spin but there is actually a thin plastic you can peel off that has a good texture for sidespins so I was very happy. ... show more

EDIT: I originally left a negative review (see farther below) but the company contacted me via email and offered to send us a new set of paddles at no cost. They have now arrived. This set is much better. The protective film came off easier and didn't "shred" into pieces. It is still a little tricky to get it off and you have to pay attention to what you're doing, but it came off a lot better. The company believes perhaps the product got too hot during transit, which is entirely possible. They also do not have a chemical/petrol smell like the original order. So now the students at our university have been playing with these paddles for a few months and they like them. The students don't have any complaints with the product. :-D Thanks for having great customer service and making this right! ORIGINAL REVIEW: We are unhappy and haven't even used them yet! As other reviewers noted, the clear plastic "protective" film that is covering both sides of the face of the paddle is horrible. I spent almost an hour trying carefully to get it off 4 paddles (8 sides), and it truly cannot be peeled off completely in some instances. It tears easily as you try to remove it.. And anyplace I was gripping it, there are now indentations in the pads which is going to make balls go askew when trying to play, because now the surface is bumpy from fingers gripping it. I also dented/scratched the surface trying to peel away the bits of plastic film. Also, where the plastic film DID come off, the paddle surface is very tacky and sticky. Lint and hair etc. is going to stick to the paddles and that will no doubt be a problem for playing, plus it's gross. Also, the smell is very strong. I can smell them from across the room. Hopefully it will dissipate as the company says it will. But the film they put on there is absolutely ridiculous! I am keeping the original packaging because I have a feeling these will be returned. We will try to use them, but with all the aforementioned problems, I can't imagine they will function properly (dented with impressions, sticky, and torn bits of the clear "protective" film that won't come off). We had some really cheap paddles that the pads peeled away and were flopping around, so I wanted to buy these since they seemed to be a different style and (I thought) higher quality. Bats are delaminating within 2 weeks use. Not good quality. It is possible I got a bad batch of 4 bats, but not likely. Cheaply made. Try a different brand.
