When I first received the carpet, I rolled it out. It did not want to flatten out after being tightly-rolled. It also smelled like it had been stored in an auto mechanic's garage. I was like, "Oh, this rug is going back." But after 2 weeks of vacuuming it, walking on it - the carpet has completely flattened out. And, the odd "garage" smell was gone. Now I love this rug!
