I had to add a 50 watt heater to the 100 watt that came with the kit. Other than that I’m impressed. We keep our house on the colder side (68) so maybe that’s the problem. The lid fit perfectly. We did get a small crack in the lid when removing the “punch out” plastic piece for the filter. That was a little irritating to deal with because the lid is very thin plastic. I hot glued the light stick to the tank lid. It concealed the light stick better than attaching to the tank frame as instructed. I think the Tetra Fussion set up is the exact same setup (a little cheaper) as the Glofish tank but I have a 5 gallon Glofish tank and love it so decided to go ahead with the Glofish over Tetra. Over all for the price I recommend it. I have experience with large tanks over 50 gallons and I’m okay with this simple setup. Our new house won’t allow the huge tanks. The bigger the tank though the easier to maintain. It’s really beautiful. I did order more plants for the Glo tanks and still have some tall plants coming. This ... show more

It's a cheap tank. I didn't have high expectations. I'm really impressed though!! It's adorable! 1. It's pretty darn cute! I LOVE the shape. The bow front makes the tank look bigger than it is. It arrived on time without any damage. It is one solid piece of acrylic. No leaks possible.. The only way it would get damaged is in shipping or if you drop the whole thing on the floor. It survives just fine in my house with 4 kids. Set up couldn't be any easier!! Super simple! It is SO quiet! The aquarium is in a bedroom, the very quiet white noise doesn't bother anyone. 2. Yes, the top is flimsy and could easily be knocked off by ..... for example a cat. 3. You still need to buy a thermometer, heater, air pump, tubing, air stone, decor (tons of cool decor on Amazon), extra filters, seachem stability/prime, and fish! It's all on Amazon too! (Minus the fish) This makes for one happy busy mom! 4. Glofish are NOT cheap. Think $9 per fish .... your fish might be worth more than this tank! 5. Personally I think it's a great starter tank to see if your kids are interested in fish. 6. FYI glofish are really cool! Colors are great and they really zip around. If you get the tetras the colors are easily seen and they have bigger bodies. Downside is that glofish are NOT very hardy fish. Keep your reciept! Glofish tetras like to be kept in a school. We have 5 that are all different colors. Is my tank overstocked? Yup it is! Doing extra water changes and being vigilant about water parameters helps alleviate issues. Are my fish happy? YES. They get along well and look super healthy. 7. Glofish food - we feed a variety of food. Flakes, freeze dried, and fresh veggies. They love peas, zucchini, and leafy greens. 8. So much cute decor to buy that is really cool looking. Kids are looking forward to rearranging the tank already! Update: 10/2021 We upgraded to the 20 gallon because kiddo liked glow fish SO much!! You can buy all the stuff separately cheaper ...... but Amazon is SO easy! Kid wanted 1lthe 10 gallon - I knew better and got the 20 gallon. Everything is great. ... show more

If you plan on housing betta this is a solid tank, and if you have the money I would 10000000% recommend modifying the tank a little by gutting it if you’re looking for the portrait look with more functionality. Realistically, the back of the tank with the built-in filter takes up a lot of horizontal swimming space which realistically makes the tank maybe more like a little less than 4 gallons. Take a razor to the back silicone and take off the cover for the filter then just buy a sponge filter, air pump and tube or an over the back tank filter. There’s a very nice lady with betta fish on tiktok who has a tutorial, just look up “Marineland Portrait Tank” I bought mine second hand so it had a few issues such as not coming with an impeller for a water pump and a broken cover for the back of the tank but that was okay with me due to it being replaceable. If you don’t plan on changing anything, but if you ever need to replace the water pump because I saw some people complaining about that, lookup things like ‘Water Pump 50 gph’ and make sure to keep your elbows from the previous water pump! It’s what i searched and i bought for the missing one and it works like a charm! ... show more
