I ordered the larger alligator clips (1.8") and they are much easily to use without your hand slipping off the insulated cover which is a nice benefit. I used 18awg silicone wire and within an hour I had made up a few sets that had a resistance reading 0.3ohms or less. The assembled alligator lead kits I've bought in the past are junk. They use no solder hence the resistance reading bounces all over (3ohm or higher) depending on how the wire is orientated. It's a fun little soldering project making your own jumper leads and well worth the time spent seeing how you end up with a product that is far superior to the assembled garbage that is typically sold online. My advice, buy the clips, wire, etc. and builtd your own to save yourself a headache later on down the road! ... show more

I like these clips. They are priced for value but they are reasonably well made compared to a name brand part. They are easy to solder to. The jaws are in alignment for most of these and the clip force is high enough that they make a good electrical connection to whatever they are attached to. A few in the kit I received had jaws that were slightly out of alignment but I was able to correct them with a little force from a small pair of pliers. The rivets are not installed on the same side of the clips and some of them are not flush with the jaws. But they all work well with a good grip so I'm not concerned about that since the cover hides the rivets. Overall I think these are a good value and a good way to load up your inventory. Size: 28mm/1.1'' Alligator Clips
So, I got tired of not having enough small, covered alligator clips, generally for sub < 5a project connections. Beat yourself into infinity if you disagree, 20ga can take 5a for extended periods. For projects and testing, let it go brothers, it's fine. I got 5 colors, 100 clips, that came to 50 colored extensions. I used 20ga silicone wire, stripped and tinned, then soldered into the clip for reliability. Total project time was about 2.5 hours. Solder tin 3/16th inch un-insulated wire, 10 same colored 16" - 18" silicone wires. Then get yourself a small mini thin razor knife, grip an alligator clip to the side of the razor knife zig-zag body as a hold down in the zig-zag ratchets, then slip in the tinned wire to the small hole in the alligator clip, fold it over up the body of the alligator clip, crimp it, then solder it at 400, rosin core solder. Looks professional. End up with 50 colored test leads, that will, last for a long spell. ... show more

I've used a number of the cheap import alligator clips, and have almost always hated them because of poor quality and cheap construction. Finally, here are some clips that have the thumbpad rounded so it doesn't slip or deform, sharp teeth, and a solid feel. Definitely recommend these - great value for the price. ... show more

Photo represents only a few of the not-so-great pieces I received. Some of these of each size were great, some so-so and more than a few, junk. The ok percentage was about 70% and the great represented about 7%. The junk were so due to rusty jaws, poor pivot joints and bent jaws and just plain unfinished assembly. Those that are in good shape are great. Strong springs with a good bite, they crimped and soldered well and made good electrical contact where I used them. ... show more

Had to figure out how extend the straps for my mask. Connected 2 small clips together, used the rubber from a larger clip to protect my face, cut the straps on the bottom of the mask, and used the double alligator clips to extend the strap length!

I replaced a half dozen clips that had either broken off or were damaged with these new ones. I liked being able to select the size clip I wanted for each item. They were easy to install by crimping and seem plenty durable for my use. Plus, 120 clips in 3 sizes? Can't beat that!
