This is a great option if you need it for 2 reasons. 1) it's not hot heat. Feels like a heat pump cool heat. 2) it does also ventilate the surrounding air. I hung mine in the top of the coop.

I purchased this a week ago as a test to see if it would be warm enough to get rid of my red infrared bulb and if the bulb messed with chicks circadian rhythm. The fan works as a secondary heat source along with a brooder plate for me. I have 15 chicks and they are out and about under it during the day then sleep under brooder at night. I put thermometer underneath the fan with the fan 12-16 inches way from litter and thermometer and it reads from 87-92ish degrees at times. For new born chicks I think it produces too little heat which is why 4 stars. I really like there is bo light to mess with baby chick behavior! ... show more

    • So far so good with this chicken heater .
So far it’s been working great . It heats up my chickens coop and it doesn’t get to hot in there . I do have a good opening for them to get out and back in their downstairs of the the coop for food or water , so it’s nice and toasty in there. Only thing is I wish it had a thermostat .
