I wanted to replace my dishes and bought these. They are a heavy stoneware that stands up well. They are machine washable and maintain their shiny luster even after many washes. I don't know how many times I've washed them and they still look new. The pattern is interesting and I have not seen anyone else using this pattern. I like the unique design and the solid build. Does chip, not easily but with weight and porcelain sink - my family has chipped 2 pieces. Also, I've ordered two sets now and each time 1 piece was broken upon arrival. 1st time a small plate (which don't use often anyway, 2nd time a bowl which we use often. I’ve had these plates and bowls for 3 years and I love the design, weight, and ease of cleaning. However, within the first year, the plates and bowls started to chip. I’m not sure when the chips happened, but I feel like it was must a major manufacturing flaw.
