I have trouble using this where I need on my shoulders and back (55yr woman). This size would work great on a back. I think a small size would be better for my shoulders. I have used it on my forearms with relief. It is naturally on the cold side. The heating option to this ball feels awesome on sore muscles. i have nuked water to boil and warmed it up, but the good strong heat doesn't last, so i must be doing something wrong with that method. I bought a different one (the green one in the pictures) that was smaller and I kept getting scratched or pinched by the plastic ring so I ordered this one that was like twice as big. It is amazing. I've used it both hot and cold and it holds the temperature for a decent amount of time. I can use it on any sore muscle and it hurts so good. For $20 it is definitely worth buying. ... show more

This is actually a really cool massager. The ball is a perfect size and gets deep down in the muscles depending on how much pressure is used. I've gotten quite a few knots out using this. The disappointment is that it falls apart while using it. The piece that screws on to hold the ball in place is not well made. If it stayed together better, I would definitely have given it five stars ... show more
