Description

This version of the Multi-Lock has Fiskars scissors and the Jigsaw blade adaptor. Gerber Multi-Lock has one of the best combinations of features and safety available on the market today. Each component opens independent of any other, locks tightly against a rollbar for increased support, and stays tight until you unlock it. It is the only tool that offers a dual locking Safe-T Plus system. Multi-Lock incorporates Gerber's patented one-handed opening feature along with seventeen others. The adaptable tool kit allows the user to add a multiplicity of quarter-inch tool bits via the unique coupling system. The Gerber Pro Scout Needle-Nose Multi-Plier with Sheath features a one-handed plier opening for ease of use. No handle rotation or gyrations are necessary to open the Pro Scout -- just a flick of the wrist slides the plier jaws into the locked and ready position. The locking system is safe and easy to use with components locking up against a solid bar of steel, rather than a spring. It also features independent tool rotation, allowing access to components you want without other tools following it out. The multi-plier includes needle-nose pliers, wire cutter, crimper, standard/metric scale, crosshead screwdriver, bottle/can opener, serrated sheepsfoot blade, drop point blade, Fiskars scissors, replaceable saw blade, file, lanyard ring, and small, medium, and large flathead screwdrivers. The multi-plier comes with a limited lifetime warranty. What's in the Box Multi- plier and sheath. P.when('A').execute(function(A) { A.on('a:expander:toggle_description:toggle:collapse', function(data) { window.scroll(0, data.expander.$expander[0].offsetTop-100); }); }); From the Manufacturer Perfect for the fisherperson or an outdoors person, the Pro-Scout will cut through braided fishing lines and light wire. It also has a carbide- coated sharpener for knives and fishhooks, to keep the "big" one from spitting out the hook and getting away. With a one-handed plier opening, no handle rotation or gyrations are necessary with the Pro-Scout. Just a flick of the wrist slides the plier jaws into the locked and ready position. The locking system is safe and easy to use with components locking up against a solid bar of steel, rather than a spring. I use this daily. Never realized how handy this would be until I started carrying it. Being able to open the pliers one handed is the best feature. So far the only problem that I have found is the bottle opener. Tried to open a soda bottle with a cap and couldn’t get it on the cap. Didn’t matter what I tried. It needs to be at least another 1/2” longer. Everything else is outstanding. The saw is a really handy feature also. ... show more

  • Gerber vs Leatherman: similar but different; different=good
The dominant multi-tool on the market is likely the Leatherman Wave. The Gerber has two main advantages versus the Leatherman (and one weakness). The first advantage is that all the tools lock (not so for the Leatherman though the blade locks). A locking blade is clearly desirable, but a nice feature for other tools as well. The second advantage is the strength of the pliers. It's hard to see from the image, but the pliers retract into the handle versus the Wave where the handles unfold to expose the pliers. Having looked at both before buying the Gerber, I suspect (but am not sure) that the strength of the Gerber design is greater. While the Leatherman's pliers have a pivot for each arm (plus the center pivot), the Gerber only has the center pivot. This strength leads to the one weakness - that the pliers have to be opened to access any of the other tools (while with the Leatherman you can get at the blade without opening the whole tool). Both are fine tools, what sold me on the Gerber is how the pliers retract and the cool sound it makes when you deploy the pliers and they lock into place - a very solid, satisfying metal thunk. Hint: to make sure that you can deploy with one hand, rub a little candle wax into the plier channels in the handle. Also the scissors are made by Fiskar - a specialty scissor maker - nice and sharp. Besides, it's sometimes nice to have something slightly different from what everyone else has. ... show more

  • It's a Gerber
Have wore out two sets in 30 years and lost two, the reason for purchase. This pair is a little stiff regarding plyers, gotta manually open, everything else is smooth. Figure these will work better as they used.

  • My favorite multi-tool, awesome pliers, solid construction
The knife is great! I have owned one of these for a long time and the multi tool is fantastic. Pros: - Interchangeable blade is a great idea - Scissors are Fiskar and actually great quality - One-handed slide-style pliers are MUCH better than the fold-out type - Solid, quality feel - Wire cutters at back of pliers jaw are strong - Locking system works on all tools, not just knife blade Cons: - Takes a bit to loosen up - slide is tight at first - Carrying case is not too great - Screwdriver is not great for tight locations as the tool has to be closed to use Overall, a fantastic multi-tool. These come in a variety of sizes and with different tools, so you can really select what you like. One last thought - I bought eight of these and each one showed up greasy and almost used looking. Gerber QC could improve on the out of the package cleanliness. ... show more

  • Best multi-tool I have ever used!
I live on a farm and am always in need of a pair of pliers, a screw driver, wire cutters etc. I have tried many other multi-tools in the past and had given up on finding one that was worth anything. One day a friend of mine, who drives a train, said that he did not know what he would do without his Gerber Multi-tool and that he even told his boss that it was his Gerber multi-tool that kept the train running and his boss in business. I was like, "Hey! Let me see that thing.". As soon as I felt it I could feel the quality and I decided to get one right away. I have had mine for about 3 months now, and I honestly don't think I could ever live without it now. While the other tools are useful, it is the pliers that are the real stand out here. No more running to the tool box to search for a pair of pliers for me. I would feel naked without my Gerber multi-tool now. ... show more

  • better then most.
This is a pretty nice knife except for a couple of issues I'd have rated it higher. Bad points- Only one standard screw driver blade - small size with a nice bottle opener built in the same blade. My son dropped this once when he barrowed it from me and the screwdriver blade chipped. Must be some pretty good hardened steel. No saw - The black Finegrif (tm) saw blade is a joke. It would take half an hour (at least) to cut through a small nail and the blade is too thin to not break right off. For wood this blade is even less effective. This is a none usable... The file has no teeth on the sides like a proper file should. One side is a double cut and the other single cut (metal). No chance for an emergency manicure here. Can opener blade has no fingernail slot and it's sharp so it's hard to safely deploy without cutting yourself in the dark. Best things about this knife- Nice set of needle nose pliers great for small precision type jobs. One handed operation (pliers only) and also has a comfortable grip. Scissors- a necessity in my opinion. locking blades- excellent system for locking the blades All and all a good quality tool but with some design flaws. ... show more

  • I would recommend, but be warned
This is my everyday carry, and I don't know what I would do without it. Having said that, there is one thing that bothers me. The knife blade is different than the one I had before and lost. It seems as though it wasn't meant to be where it is. The indentation in the top of the blade used to hook a fingernail under and lift the blade is on the wrong side. I get the feeling somehow this was a tool that didn't pass quality control, but is still in full working order, and another company put whatever blade that had laying around that would fit in it. I would recommend, but be warned. ... show more

  • Stainless
Great along with the compact version. The full size Phillip’s and scissors are a must have. I use it fly fishing along with special pliers to cynch knots . I would like replacement cutter blades but as long as it’s not abused it later
