  • hard to install but worth
like other reviewers have said, it's a pain to install, but worth it as far as maintenance goes. When I put the filter back on the car, I used hose clamps instead of the squeeze type as there just isn't enough room to put the squeeze type back on. With the hose clamps I used a ratchet and a small socket to tighten the clamp and it worked. You can use a hose clamp or a squeeze clamp on the outer part of filter. I just picked up a 2007 Honda Civic LX and I always change fluids when I buy a used car. This filter looks well made, it's not light or cheap feeling and it looks exactly like what came off the car. It cost a fraction of what the Honda dealer was asking and if fit perfectly. There IS an in and out port on filter so be sure to install properly. I just snapped a pic of the old filter before removing. I wasn't having problems with the transmission I just wanted to change fluid and filter as I had just picked up this vehicle. Transmission fluid is a maintenance issue so I'll be doing this again I'm sure. Not looking forward to that, but once you've done it, at least you know what to expect. ... show more

  • Fits and works well for my Accord 2006 2.4L.
Pro. 1. Half the price of the dealership. 2. looks and feels exactly the same as the OEM one. 3. It slides right in without any problems. Cons. 1. What a hassle to put it in. Must remove Air intake hose and housing. A total pain to get the metal clamp loose from the ATF lines, Must use an angled plier to do it. Took me a while to get a firm grip on them. Spend 30 min just to find the right angle and plier to get them loose. Anyway. at 160,xxx miles, my 06 Accord never got a ATF filter change, I got around 3 Quarts of fluids out today underneath the car, and I replace this filter. To be honest, I did not notice a huge change in the quality of my ride. But for only 25 bucks, I think I can change it without breaking my bank. Anyway, Good luck out there .DIYers. Be patient and have fun. ... show more

  • If yours is clogged it can affect shift quality.
I tend to write these reviews when I'm waiting around while traveling, so excuse the long winded review for such a simple part. Although the replacement of this item isn't called for under most circumstances in the Honda service manuals, these really should be changed periodically. Members in forums I am a part of have cut these open to find them completely clogged and no longer effectively filtering. In my experience there are instances when it is changed that shift quality improves. I'm not sure if this is primarily due to effective filtering or restoring lost pressures. In most applications they are fairly easy to change as they are exterior to the transmission. A good maintenance item for those who prefer a reliable vehicle that drives like new. ... show more

  • I Assume it Works
Ordered this because it seemed like a no brainer to replace on my 2007 Honda Accord since I was already flushing fluids. It fit perfectly. There are alternatives, but they are all very cheap chinese knockoffs or fake. This one claims it is genuine, but it didn't come in honda packaging, which can easily be faked, so you really have to take the seller's word that it truly is genuine. Based on the quality I received, the genuine-ness seems questionable. ... show more

  • Honda inline trans filter
I knew that this filter was going to be a bear to install. But it just so happened that I was going to clean the throttle body, which entails in removing the cowl to access the throttle body. Once the throttle body was removed, the filter was easily accessed. Used small long nosed vise grips that held the clamps open and removing and installing the filter was easy. If I didn't remove the TB, then it would be another story! Went with the OEM filter. There are some things you can go aftermarket, but things like transmission filters, fluids or emission items, in Japanese cars, I would stick with OEM! ... show more

  • Still shifting gears -
Still shifting gears at the moment- changed mine 90,000 miles in- didn’t even no it was they’re - I changed this along with the pressure switches in a 2008 Honda accord 2.4 - was a night and day difference - really smoothed out the transmission- unfortunately it still clunks when shifting from neutral to reverse - maybe I’m one of the lucky ones with this particular issue - I’m not sure - changed all my motor mounts and did the drain and fill three times to no avail- ... show more
