    • Great inexpensive cnc for hobbyists
This little CNC is great. I can do a lot of work using different CAD systems to create designs. I especially am enjoying a monthly subscription with Carveco that gives me access to a lot of good tutorials for producing lots of different designs, including things like inlays. I’m also using auto cad fusion 360 with good results. The one suggestion I have is that the provided spindle is pretty weak. I replaced it with a water cooled 2 hp spindle from Amazon and it can cut through anything. The carriage and drives seem to be very sturdy and allows me to get good cuts even with the larger spindle. I’ve also found that sainsmart customer service is great and very quick to send parts if needed. ... show more

    • Great little hobby machine
I purchased this machine on cyber Monday in 2023. I was looking for a CNC that had more stability, accuracy and repeatability than the belt driven machine I currently had at the time. I wasn't disappointed. The packaging was about the best I've ever seen, assembly was a breeze and it was square and level right away. The screw drive and linear rails make this quite rigid and reliable. I used it for about ten months when it stopped working. After contacting customer support and describing the symptoms it was determined that the power supply went bad. They sent me a new one free of charge which solved the problem completely. I bought this CNC with an X-axis extension kit, uprgraded spindle, and a laser attachment, only to discover not only do you have to disassemble the entire original x-axis (I mean literally every little component, piece by piece) so that you can just swap out the guide rails and thread, but virtually every screw I had to remove stripped on me instantly, using the tools they provided. I spent two hours disassembling it, only to have the final two screws holding the thread in place to strip so badly I can't even get them out using an extractor. Why they don't just sell different sizes of this CNC, with the longer axis already put together, is beyond me. But to then use the cheapest, low quality screws possible, is just awful. I'm probably going to have to send this whole thing back. ... show more

    • Decent beginner machine
I received the machine in good condition, the packaging was superb,. unpackaged and assembled, clear directions. took around 30 minutes to set up. the software (Candle) that came with it is a bit lacking, but I use G-sender and V-carve Pro. This is my first desktop machine, so I am going to try my best to capture everything I have experienced so far. Pros: Good quality main frame, pretty stiff for a desktop Good packaging Great customer service Easy to assemble with easy to follow instructions Very quiet Cons: Extremely underpowered, most bits require 12000 or more rpm to work in optimal range, the spindle is only turning 9000 Upgrade parts are almost as expensive as purchasing a new machine( spindles, extensions Etc.) would recommend the 1.5kw VFD spindle or trim router if you will be carving anything thicker than 1/4" pine. The stock spindle struggles to cut though on profile settings, deep v-carves and 1/4" clearing pocket cuts. V-bits and End mills that have a 1/4" shank are unusable with the stock spindle. Very little adjustments to correct Tram and squaring Final thoughts: The machine advertises that it can cut wood, metal, acrylics and other soft materials, what they don't tell you is that the machine will not cut smoothly with 1/4" bits or anything thicker than 1/4" and that is testing the limits. All in all, it is a good starter machine, a little pricey for beginners, but bear in mind this isn't a commercial machine, if you are doing small carves with minimal depths this is a great machine. If you are seriously trying to carve heavier materials look to the more robust (and more expensive machines). If I can afford to purchase the 1.5kw VFD spindle I will return and revise the review. If Genmitsu/Sainsmart would like to donate the spindle set up, I will put the machine through its paces again, and give another review with the upgraded machine. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Bought for my wife. She loves it. Lets her create artful wood products. Had held up well in almost daily use. Has since upgraded router motor which was easily done. Cooling fan replaced also.

    • Great product, but keep your expectations in line.
It won't cut steel, but that's an extremely unrealistic expectation - no fault of the machine. Cuts plastic and wood with ease, but you'll definitely want to upgrade to a true spindle or palm router for soft metals. I've had mine for a while and built a full enclosure, wired up a relay power module to control my palm router and dust extraction via the onboard controller, and I love the machine. I cut 6060 aluminum regularly, so it's very capable. ... show more
