    • Fantastic, Quality Pencils!!!
I wanted to find an American made pencil that was also natural feeling without any weird coatings. I absolutely love these. My kids love them too! As a home-school family, we go through pencils quite a bit, and they get used and abused besides. (My toddler likes to bite off the erasers of any unattended pencils, but these are so nice that my older kids actually put them away without my asking so their little sister will not ruin them!) I can tell these are excellent quality pencils and they are very sturdy. They sharpen well and write smoothly. These will continue to be the only pencils we purchase. My eldest daughter's reaction when she first held one of these and wrote with it: "Oh WOW! These are SO NICE!" She has never cared about pencils before at all, but she enjoys these and actually looks forward to being able to use them daily. I love the natural feel and smell. They were sanded smooth, no rough edges or splinters. "Lead" is all great quality and doesn't break off in the sharpener or break off right after sharpening when you go to write with them, like so many other pencils do. I could just go on and on about these. Buy them... they are life changing! I imagine if you like to sketch, these would be nice for that too. Just some really, really nice pencils.     • Best bang for your buck.
I work outside and I use rite in the rain paper, they sell water proof ink pens but I always misplace them. This is where these quality pencils shine, they sharpen well and erase as advertised. You will enjoy the smell and feel of using such a quality writing utensil, They are made in the USA with incense ceadar and quality graphite. They also develop a nice patina over time.     • Great 'experience' pencil, tactile and singsong.
I am a some-of-the-time artist, and a too-much-of-the-time collector and perfectionist when it comes to my supplies. I have owned mechanical pencils with .3, .4, .5, .7, .9, 2, 5.5mm leads; woodcased pencils from 10B to 9H. But, really, pencils for me are for sketching and for Bob Klahn crosswords, and I've come to realize that I just need some good woodcased pencils for freehand sketching and some strong mechanical lead for technical sketching. As far as woodcased pencils are concerned, this is my new favorite. It's not available in any crazy lead hardnesses, and it's not the best, smoothest lead you'll ever find. But the lead is good, very good. It's mostly smooth, with the occasional scratch or feeling of grit. It feels right for a #2, capable of dropping a fairly light line or going into easy-visibility territory - but never black, of course. The real magic of the pencil is in the casing. Unfinished cedar. It's like a warm companion in your hand, when even the nicest shellac leaves you feeling cold. It's a little bit grippy, but still smooth. The feeling is almost that of nice cotton rag paper. Like stroking your lover's neck. It's just a beautiful tactile experience that I've never gotten from lacquered pencils. Then there's the sound of it. Not the lead on the paper, mind you, but that subtle texture as it slides through your hands, the pencil practically sings to you as you write. Of course, there is the smell, which is not the strongest. But it's never harsh like some pencils, and if you enjoy the smell of cedar, well, it is there. All in all, this is a good pencil for the 'laying down graphite on paper' part of writing, and a great pencil for the 'handling a tool' part of writing. ... show more

    • Quality Pencils
So my son is doing his homework and about every two minutes he stops to sharpen his pencil. . . I'm thinking he is just procrastinating and losing focus so I get on him about it and he shows me that his pencil keeps breaking and the lead just falls out. I tell my wife we need to purchase Dixon pencils because those are the best . . . surprise, surprise all his crappy pencils are Dixons. They just don't make them the same anymore. So I do a little research on what the best pencils are and not to my surprise I find a bunch of posts by school teachers saying they lose so much time because Dixon pencils along with so many other poorly made pencils force the kids to keep sharpening their pencils when the lead falls out frequently. Most of them had similar recommendations so I decided to purchase a few different brands to see which ones worked best for us. And so far we have been really happy with the quality of each of the following types that we tried. -Write Dudes USA Gold Premium Cedar No. 2. (Great all around pencil) -Write Dudes USA SIlver Wooden #2 (Great all around pencil) -Staedtler Rally Graphite #2 (Top notch) -General Pencil Company Cedar Pointe No. 2 Pencil (Very well priced and still great quality) -Paper Mate 12 Count #2 Mirado Black Warrior Lead Pencils, Medium Soft (Great pencils, nice darker color) I'd purchase any of the above again as long as they continue to make them the same way. I found a few other reviews by teachers who recommended others, but those few were in a much higher price range. Keeping it in a realistic price range the above 5 pencils are awesome. I bought a 12-pack and these are the best pencils I've used in a long time! They feel of quality and write excellent; the erasers are also top-notch. My only issue was that of the 12 I received, one has a slight bow to it but nothing unbearable and definitely better than most other brands I've used. Another bonus and one that will make me a returning customer is the fact that these are made in the U.S.A. Not designed or based in, MADE in the U.S.A. and that alone is worth the extra dollar or two over the imported competition. ... show more

    • Best Pencil On the Market! Worth the Extra Money
Finally a pencil that lasts a long time and one I can sharpen and not have the lead continue to break. Other brands used to be good, now they are junk (you know which ones I mean). These are like "the back in the day" pencils, pure quality. Worth the extra money
