I bought this because the keypad on my generator quit working. Instead of getting a repair guy out and paying for his diagnosis and the obvious markup in price for the part, etc. I decided to take the controller out and inspect it myself. Sure enough, I found a ribbon connector from the keypad to the controller board had fell apart. After days of searching, it seems like there's no way to get the exact piece I needed to fix it, so unfortunately I had to buy the whole controller. It was cheaper on here than any other place I found so I went ahead and got it. It's worked flawlessly so far and was easy enough to set up because you don't need a special dealer code or anything as it's preprogrammed to work out of the box. ... show more

    • Easy and quick install
My house took a large power surge which blew a lot of my electronics out, including the original controller on my generator (as well as the ATS switch itself which we replaced separately). After we replaced the ATS, my generator wouldn't charge the battery anymore, and it would blow the small fuse in the automatic transfer switch as soon as the fuse in the generator itself was inserted/controller was activated. Went through several small fuses in the ATS when we finally figured out the controller in the generator (this unit) also needed to be replaced. This part was quick and easy to replace. ... show more

The original Controller was superceded by newer revision. Knowing this would would have been helpful and alleviated the panic when the new controller arrived. Also, there is (was) a sequence to installing the controller, and again this would have been helpful if this information had come with the new controller. Fortunately -UTUBE provided a short video on how to install the new controller. With that in hand, it took about 15 minutes to remove the old one and install the new. Bought one. Could not get it to work. Bought another one, still didn’t work so I sent it back. Controller just says it can’t read harness resistor (used to identify product). Finally I called a repair guy, took a month for him to come out to my remote property. He fixed it in 10 minutes. Said this was an Evolution 1 controller, my Generac is Evolution 2. So now I have a 3 month old Evolution 1 controller I can’t use or return. Selling it on eBay for half what I paid. This popped up when I searched for Evolution 2.     • Works great
The old controller on my 22kW Generac Guardian stopped working properly. The display would light up and it would run the generator, but it wouldn’t charge the battery and constantly gave a “low battery” alarm. I swapped it out with this new one in about 15 minutes and it’s working great
