  • Looks like a good set, but odd size
Typically I only like to rate art supplies and kits like this once I have used them for a while or completed the kit. In this instance I have a few Christmas themed projects to work on first (honestly this might get left undone until next fall). My instinct is that maybe both the skeleton pictures are on clearance after Halloween, so I am just churning out a quick review of what I can determine about this kit without any kind of assessment on the quality of paints: so just a partial review at best in case anyone is contemplating this kit. I bought both skeleton images. The canvas is rolled, very minimal creasing. Canvases are only packaged in a clear cello baggie. Honestly gave me the immediate vibe of when I have ordered similar painting kits from a certain overseas deep discount type website. But thankfully Amazon carefully packaged these in a box and they arrived to my home undamaged in two days (rather than pancake flat in a taped up orange bag in two weeks lol). There is Chinese writing on the border of canvas. Instructions are in English. Canvas is an odd size. I measured the dimensions of the picture part minus the border. It was slightly less than 12"×15.5"--so I think standard U.S. canvas stretchers wouldn't exactly work for this. It might be like A3 size...but not sure. Might be an odd, non standard, non metric size?? The example colored photo is tiny, but that's ok because the printing on the canvas is well done and legible. Ink is black, but lines and numbers look thin enough that I feel confident they should be easy enough to cover with the paint. Best part about this kit is that there's a really large print off "color guide" Also included the usual three blue brushes and hardware that one might use to mount picture. There's no wooden framing pieces fyi. Difficulty looks to be intermediate. There's a lot of small detail areas and I would highly recommend purchasing some better detail brushes than the ones they include free in these kits (I prefer ones with a wooden handle, typically either a thicker wooden handle or ones with an ergonomic grip) the length of the brush--you might want a longer brush if you're clipping this on an easel, but a shorter brush to paint on a flat tabletop. I say intermediate not difficult because the image itself doesn't look like it's going to require any advanced color blending techniques, nor special finishing touches to create a good looking finished project. There's 19 paints, all pre-mixed. If you're a total beginner, two tips to pass along: I always keep flow aide in an eye dropper bottle, which I might not use on some of these kits, but other times, if paint starts drying up in the paint-pot, that is the solution (and also the solution to revive old thick (not fully dried) paint if you neglected a kit for a few years). Flow aide will also help extend the amount of paint if you start running low on a color. I usually prime these kits with matte medium first because it makes the paint go on faster and use less paint because I think these are like printed on a paper or something fused to the canvas. They really aren't primed and thus it's just better in my experience to apply some kind of a transparent primer first (with matte medium being the budget friendly alternative to transparent gesso). I don't always prime these, as priming will wrinkle the canvas if it's not on a stretcher, and this one is nice and smooth, so I might not prime this one if I can't find appropriate framing material for it fyi. Sorry that I can't assess the actual paint at this time. I might update this review in the future if the products are still available at the time when I finish the actual kits. Hope this helps someone. ... show more

  • Therapeutic paint by number that is beautiful
I bought this paint by number set for my recent trip to Europe. I knew I’d be traveling by plane and train a lot, so i wanted something mindless to work on in my free time. It was perfect! I was concerned that there won’t be enough black paint, since that was the majority color. So i bought black puff paint instead of using the black paint in the kit. I love how it turned out. The puff paint makes it look like stained glass for sure! ... show more

  • Not as detailed as the picture shown
It was really fun to do, despite it not being as detailed as the picture that was shown. I ended up adding some glow in the dark paint over the moon and stars. This one and the other skeleton mushroom one now sit in my bathroom!

  • Not the best translation
I have done many of these and they always come out so realistic and professional. This is a poor interpretation of the original compared to others I’ve used. I’m not done yet but already you can see it lacks definition. The colors are way off from the original. It looks very blobby. Its only a 21 color set and I think that shows. If this had been a 36 color set it may have been better. This one came in a 4 pack and I’m not sure I want to keep going. ... show more

  • Good past time, but a couple issues.
Color: GA-183
First, it came in folded, nit rolled as advertised. So, I had to spend time trying to get the folds out. Second, I'm running out of some colors and I'm not done with it. Specifically #18, which is the black used for shadows and the border. It's the most used color. They give you 3 pots of it, but 2 were only half full. Fortunately, I had a big tube of black acrylic paint I can use. You may have to do the same. Some of the colors are very thin, I've had to go over their spots several times and the numbers are still showing through. Second pic shows areas ive already gone over 2 or more times. Still a relaxing activity, just things to keep in mind. ... show more
