  • Confirmed to be a True Balanced Adapter
Size: 2.5 mm Male to 3.5mm Female
TL;DR - Okay, this is my apology to Geekria. You get 5 stars for making a good product, despite my concerns about longevity due to weight hanging off the 2.5mm jack. In previous versions of this review, I was sure this was not a true balanced adapter, based on wording of the above marketing materials. I actually physically disassembled this piece, and I could confirm visually, that not only does the male jack have 4 poles, but the female jack does as well, and they are all connected by separate leads. In conclusion, this is a real balanced adapter. If used properly, with 3.5mm 4-pole balanced-terminated headphones, it should not damage balanced amplifiers. My only other concerns to note here, is that the 2.5mm jack isn't very thick, and having seen 3.5mm jacks snap easy, putting the weight of a larger connector hanging off the 2.5mm jack worries me. However, I understand it's better, in theory, to solder the 2 connectors together with as little distance/wire between them as possible. **NOTE** - I want to briefly speak on "stereo-balanced adapters" here, and state that the main difference between differential and shared-ground designs, from a performance perspective in regards to headphone driving ability is more power. When using balanced speaker setups, balanced connections have a greater ability to reject common ground noise, or hum over longer cable runs, in studios. Headphones generally have such a short cable run, that unless something is very wrong with your setup, balanced should not solve any problem you're having specifically with the sound coming out of your headphones. However, amp circuits designed for fully differential wiring should not be used with shared ground terminated headphones/cables. People much smarter than me say that you will damage an amp by attempting to do so, it's only a matter of time. Therefore, regardless of the above, I highly recommend that you DO NOT attempt to run your 3-pole headphones balanced with this adapter. BUT, you should feel no worry running this with a fully differential/balanced-terminated pair of headphones. ... show more

  • female side extra tight, manufacturing qualilty is amazing
Size: 3.5 mm Male to 2.5mm Female
UPDATE: I actually wasn't inserting the jack (2.5mm) deep enough into the adapter. The last bit takes more force than what I was used to. Obviously for TRRS there are multiple contact points, like a lock keyway. The 2nd to last pin is deceptively difficult, and feels like you are bottoming out. But not tight enough to really retain the plug. You have to thrust for all your worth to get to the 4th and final contact. Do that and this adapter is actually tighter than any device (DAP, AMP, what have you) jack I have had the pleasure of inserting. Therefore your cable and the adapter essentially form a single unit. It's great. And only $10. i have other geekria products and they are all great so that brand trust led me to buy this adapter. well i don't know about you but i like a tight fit. the 2.5mm female port doesn't secure the jack too well. i mean there's a click and some pressure, but it takes only a light touch to slip out (to the next detent). this will probably result in pops and squeals which you probably wouldn't enjoy. but who am i to judge your proclivities? for $10 i won't bother to return it but i will find an alternative. otherwise it's a well finished metal adapter which seems high quality. ... show more

  • Exactly as expected
Size: 4.4 mm Male to 2.5mm Female
I needed to pick up a 4.4 to 2.5 adapter for a pair of IEMs that I didn't have a custom cable for. I also didn't want to break the bank with a ddHiFi adapter or anything else pricey. The adapter comes packaged in a nice fabric pouch. I did test, and can confirm this IS balanced at both ends, so it does its job. The adapter is a little large all things considered, but the metal feels quality. No problems with fitment on either end. For the price, this is EXACTLY what you should expect, and is easily worth the sub-$10 price. I bought another just in case. You never know when you might need it. ... show more

  • works well, but
Size: 2.5 mm Male to 3.5mm Female
ordered one to use the extra power of the balanced output on my BTR5 amp to drive my 250 ohm headphones. It caused a highly noticeable buzz on certain tones in my music. The fake leather bag it came with is confusing, but nice. Overall, made well but I don't know if it was the right call for my application. ... show more

  • BEWARE IF USING ON BALANCED AMP WITH UNBALANCED CABLE
Size: 4.4 mm Male to 3.5mm Female
If you use this with unbalanced headphone cables and a balanced amplifier, you can fry your amplifier. My amp had a 6.35mm unbalanced and 4.4mm balanced output, but the balanced had greater amplification so I thought I'd get this and use it with unbalanced 3.5mm cables. Amp immediately shut down. Thankfully it wasn't dead and it turns back after unplugging/plugging but doing some research, the balance signal gets shorted and can fry the amp. The connector seems high quality though and comes in a nice case too. Can't knock the product for my stupidity. ... show more

  • As described.
Size: 4.4 mm Male to 2.5mm Female
It is well built and works well. Not too much to say beyond that. It came with a draw-string bag for some reason. For the seller: if you can remove that and offer a slightly better price that would be something.

  • It works great!
Size: 4.4 mm Male to 3.5mm Female
Bought it to amplify my DT 990 Pro 250 ohms headphones and it plays music GREAT! Only thing is, the edges of the male 4.4mm plug with the black circles in between the sections are sharp. They make it scary to plug into your devices. It feels sketchy as each section pops in. If those were lightly filed so it would go in more comfortably as most plugs do, it would be flawless. This is the one and only port with backed reviews and I do not regret this purchase at all. ... show more
