I am a caregiver and use this for my aunt with dementia. It helps me monitor her and make sure she doesn't leave the home or go into the medicine cabinets, or on the balcony, etc. These are very simple to install with supplied double sided tape. There are connecting magnets at the base, so when the door is open and the magnets are separated, the alarm goes off. You can either set it to a 2 bell chime or crazy alarm (what I call it). If you want an inexpensive, easy to install theft deterrent then do not hesitate to buy this. It's not actual security, but it's loud and it will wake you up if the door is kicked open. I bought to alert me when my toddler is trying to escape out the doors. At first I noticed that it didn't chime sometimes when I went in and out. Then in the middle of the night it fell off the door and exploded all the tiny little batteries everywhere. Thankfully I seen it before my kid woke up and had a tasty snack of battery acid. Why not just have one AAA battery?? The adhesion problem was likely my fault on account that I moved it 2 times to get it to work properly on my slider (they aren't meant for sliders). This two pack of door and window alarms are ideal for most people. They offer a practical solution if your door or window is opened when it should not be. Simple easy two-sided 3M tape places it securely where you need it. I will say this. To mount the alarm and the magnet, you must mount the alarm on the left side of your door facing it from inside. The magnetic piece would be to the right side of your door as you are facing it. For some reason they don't make that very clear in the description of this product. It uses four coin type LR44 batteries in each of the units. Simple switch on the side of the door alarm lets you simply turn it off, set it to chime, or set it to alarm. No codes or numbers to press in. I highly recommend this to anybody seeking a simple solution to help keep their home more secure without spending a ton of money. ... show more
