  • Absolutely wonderful option for a desktop microphone stand for computer recordings
Size: Weighted Base style: Stand
This microphone stand has been exactly what I've been looking for, but I didn't know it until I found it. What I mean by that is that this is advertised as a floor stand for placing a microphone next to a drum or something similar. I was looking for a stand that would sit on my desk for use in recording video lectures. The most common recommendation for setting up that type of recording is to use a boom arm. I have been using one of those but I am never satisfied with it because when it is fully extended, it is just long enough to reach my mouth, but when it is not in use, it is very unattractive. The crazy thing is that it is almost impossible to find a boom arm that is attractive. Even the name brand models that are $100+ are just as unattractive as the one I'm using. I finally found a really attractive boom arm, but it was $400+. I really do appreciate how good it looks, but there is no way I'm ready to spend that kind of money on just the boom arm in my setup. So I was looking around after being scared off by the price of that when I stumbled onto this product. It appeared to meet my needs and after receiving it and setting it up, I was correct. This stand sits to my left and easily brings the microphone directly where it needs to be, while not obstructing my line of site to my computer monitors. When it is not in use, it is very easy to move out of the way, or if I decide to leave it on my desk it is much better looking than the boom arm it is replacing. After looking at this stand, it makes it even more perplexing as to why so many stands and boom arms are so unattractive. This thing looks and works great! And it is sold for a very reasonable price! Pros: - The weighted base is plenty heavy to hold it steady even when you have it extended all the way. - The knobs are easy to turn, making it easy to adjust - The pieces all feel very solid - It has integrated cable management ... show more

  • Exactly what I wanted
Size: Weighted Base style: Stand
Works great. It is very sturdy and maneuverable. I am using it with my at2020 xlr mic. I freaked out for about 10minutes because I could not figure out how to attach the mic to the stand. I'm a newbie at this. Looked online and discovered that the part of the mic clamp thing that screws on to the stand has a metal adapter in it that needs screwed out with a coin. I'm not great at describing things, but if you look at the photo you'll see that I'm holding the bit that needs screwed out. Anyway, great product. Packaged well. ... show more

  • Great desktop stand
Size: Weighted Base style: Stand
I know this stand is designed for drum and amplifier microphones, but it works great as a desktop stand too! It holds my Blue Yeti without any issue at full extension. Granted, it wouldn't take much more than the Yeti to allow it to fall over. Keep in mind, the Yeti weighs 1.2 lbs. I can't wait to record my next podcast without the stage boom I was using. Would definitely recommend! ... show more

  • Poor design. Tips over everytime.
Size: Weighted Base style: Stand
The media could not be loaded. It has a single design flaw that makes it useless for me. The base is designed like a rectangle. with the short end facing forward tothe musician. So if the arm of the mic is facing directly forward inline with the base, then the weighted base will keep the stand upright, but if you swing the arm left or right so that it is off-center to the base, then the mic stand tips over every time because the base can not support the weight in those directions. I am using this on top of a piano and the sheet music sits directly in front of me so I need the mic stand to be off-center such that the arm is at a 45 degree angle from the base. I've tried repositioning the base a couple different ways on the piano but it's just unstable with a standard size/weight mic. The stand (and my mic) keep crashing to the ground!! • Design and operation problems
Size: Weighted Base style: Stand
With all of the great reviews, I thought this was going to be the last guitar cab mic stand I'd ever have to buy, but I have to echo some of the other reviewers that the design has some extremely irritating issues: The main shaft is indeed threaded weird and is extremely difficult to tighten, the result being that your mic is free to spin around the axis at any time. This is compounded by the fact that operating the grip adjustment for extending the height will usually destroy any tightness you may have achieved (as does adjusting the orientation of the boom, any movement and it's suddenly free to spin with any bump, which is a real pain in the context of the precision required from guitar cab miking). I guess it's a plus that the boom end has an adapter for 5/8" and the smaller European-style connectors, but almost all of my mic clips are 5/8", and EVERY time I change one, the adapter comes off with the clip when unscrewing. The adapter has a slot for unscrewing once this happens, but it's made for a 5/8" wide flathead screwdriver, which I don't own and have never seen, so I literally have to resort to using pliers and a nickel to uncouple the adapter from my mic clip and return it to the mic stand, only to have it come off again the next time I attach and remove a clip. I shouldn't have to buy superglue to make a mic stand work! The shaft extension is only a few inches, probably because of the minimum stand height--I wish it were a little bit more and would accept having a taller minimum height, since there have been numerous times where I've fully extended it and it's still not tall enough. This stand definitely has pros: the build quality is good, I don't mind the base design (except that if the shaft freely spins, suddenly you can be out of balance), and the main tightening controls on the boom's tilt and extension are high quality. But, it's super irritating to use on a daily basis, and I'm still on the lookout for a stand that's built well and is securely inert once it's set up. Recommendations welcome!! ... show more

  • Best Boom Stand on the Market
Size: Deluxe Weighted Base style: Stand
This is heavier than many cast iron floor stands. It also features a heavier counterweight than I have ever seen on any single mic boom. I ordered this on a whim to use in a hotel room while traveling to do some voiceovers. I will certainly be ordering more to use on stage back home. The boom extends a second time which was not apparent in the picture. It also comes with three cable management clips. Very impressed and pleased. ... show more
