I bought this as a cutesie-novelty gift to go along with the new plants/trees that I get for my mom every year for Mother's Day and her birthday -- without giving it much thought on its actual utility. But when it got here, I got curious and pulled it apart to check it out because that box that it came in seemed too small to contain all that was advertised. It is nicely made with durable nylon so it won't tear easily and will clean up. It is compact in size, yet holds all that you need in a reasonable way so that you will actually use it. I myself am one of those people who gets all of their tools out and starts to pull weeds and trim back shrubs, and sets the tools down and looses them in between uses. (I also do the same with scissors and the tape while wrapping gifts). With this set, I can either put the apron on and slide the tools in a pocket when I am finished with it, or if I use the tote option I have the tote pockets sitting next to me to put the tools away rather than losing them every 3 minutes. The tools themselves are of medium-quality. The shears should do great for small shrubbery. The tools in general should be perfectly suitable for basic weeding and trimming clean up on the weekends - as well as for building your potted plants. As for the gloves, I myself prefer my gardening gloves to be rubber-coated and more fitted, so I would be handing these gloves off to my husband. P.S. I LOVE that the floral wire twist is included! I use that stuff for all sorts of things around the house and yard! ... show more

I technically want to give it about 3.5 stars but I rounded up because for $40 it's pretty good just not perfect. So far, for me at about 130 lbs., the folding seat is plenty strong and sturdy and makes working on one spot in a bed for more than a minute much more easy and comfortable. The organizer is pretty cool and snaps easily into place under the seat. It's very handy to keep tools, bottles and seeds organized and to easily move around while you work. But speaking of the tools, they are technically pretty wanting. Most of them seem to be sturdy enough for their shape and purposes, especially as they aren't used quite as frequently or vigorously, but the main trowel bent in a couple of different places almost right away with what I considered pretty average digging and weeding. The metal is really not especially strong, it bends fairly easily in the middle of the blade and right where it's attached into the wooden handle. I ended up getting a really thick and very strong Fiskars trowel at Lowe's. I didn't mind that much though, it's good to have extras and overall this is still a pretty good set that mostly works fine and seems worth it. It would make a good gift for a beginning gardener, but is decent for anyone particularly if you're on a budget. ... show more

I just started to learn to take care of my backyard/garden and this gardening kit has everything I need. I was hesitating on taking care of my yard because it was a lot of work and very dirty. This kit made gardening easier. I especially like the gardening scissors to cut lemons from the tree, because it was difficult with regular scissors. The gardening apron was adjustable and comfortable to wear. However the gloves were one size and a big big for me, but they still protected me from thorns and spikes.
