  • Pros & Cons after 45 mph windstorm
These are $40 which any gardener knows is pretty cheap for literally anything related to the garden, and for the price, these are a win. I put these on the west side of our house, and immediately afterwards we got battered by a storm with 45+mph winds and these things didn't budge. So that was super impressive. They look fine - not stunning but functional. I would buy them again - they're surprisingly sturdy and bigger vines like Honeysuckle have plenty of room to stretch out. That said Definitely wear the gloves they provide during assembly. It was hard on my hands to snap all the little lattice pieces onto the supports. Also, I needed to move one of the panels a couple times and after moving it twice, the bottom "stake" part fell off. The ground was wet so I was still able to put it back in the ground, but obviously that part isn't super sturdy. I also wish they gave you 4 lattice panels per set of stakes instead of 3. I know it looks all nicely spaced and makes sense in the product photos, but putting them into the ground for my honeysuckle, I did wish there was more growing room. All in all, though, this is a solid option and one that i would buy again. If they could make just a few tweaks, they'd be even better. For $40, not bad at all. ... show more

  • Good for most gardens, especially temporary placement
This is the 2nd one of these I have acquired through the Vine program. I love this easy-to-build trellis. It may be plastic, but it is sturdy enough for my hops and/or passion vine if given enough support through the ground or other means. I have always had this standing against a fence or other upright because the plants I use it on are containerised and need to be mobile, so I cannot speak to the ease of which it can be inserted into the ground, but I can speak to its seasonal tolerance. The original one I acquired has put up with 3 blazing hot summers so far, and 3 moves, and is light-weight enough that I can move it myself. The plastic has good UV tolerance, and good heat tolerance. I do not keep this up during the winter. I do tie it in or tack it in to whatever other upright I secure it to, so it does not get buffeted around by the wind. It's light-weight, so I imagine in a strong enough wind burst it may topple or otherwise lose structural integrity. It is, however, sturdy in connection joins and looks great, despite its assembly components. The fact that this is the second I have acquired, while still using the first, should speak volumes to its quality and use-life. ... show more

  • 6 legs; 2 options for assembly; very tall
This trellis set can be assembled as one piece with three sections that are hinged together, or you can make three separate sections with 2 legs on each section. It comes with parts for 6 legs. They fit together easily, and assembly was straightforward. I found that the clips on the trellis sections are very tight (too tight for me to squeeze them together with my fingers). However, I found that if I laid the two vertical poles on the floor and set the trellis sections on top of them I could snap them together with my foot. These are really tall. I'm using them for my climbing pole beans. ... show more

  • Kind of weak
It's ..meh. it has a metal core that is coated in plastic, but the metal is pretty thin so it's not strong. It is easy to assemble without any tools needed. There is also quite a few ways you can assemble it, you can see my method in the photo. My big problem is getting it to stick in the ground. The stakes are flimsy enough that pushing it in didn't work. Burying did a little, but then I tried driving it in with a hammer. Mostly worked but bent the metal core enough that I couldn't connect the posts anymore. Luckily I had some spares. So finally I pounded in a spare t post and tied it to it. That's worked pretty well so far. Note I didn't do a great job at getting the four posts level. That has to do with how well each section fits together. I'm hopeful that once the vine grows up on it that it will be stable, but took a lot of help. All metal would be an improvement. ... show more

  • Good trellis with just a couple issues
Overall, I am pleased with this product but there were just a couple of drawbacks. The good thing about this is that it is a really nice size and has extra pieces so you can adjust its shape to fit your individual garden needs. That was pretty awesome. I needed something in an oblong garden bed and this trellis was perfect since I could bend it into a concave shape to fit the bed. Also, it came with plant clips and twist ties - which I didn't realize but was very excited about getting. The drawback was that it was difficult to snap together and the connecting pieces sometimes didn't stay together. Overall though, it was a nice trellis for the price. ... show more

  • Difficult to Assemble Hard to Adjust
I got this to use for my climbing jasmine and asked my husband to set it up. This is his review of this product. After removing and sorting all the parts out to start the assembly, I noticed there are either missing parts or too much of another to make this system work well. (Too many Part Bs) After trying to make this a fence I found that this trellis/ fence can only be used on level surfaces and in soft soil. Trying to adjust the height to accommodate the slope was difficult. We unfortunately have sloping property and rocky soil so this trellis is unsuitable for us. The product is mainly plastic making it a bit fragile. It takes strong hand strength to snap the pieces together and would be hard for an elderly gardener to put it together. We are going to turn this into a triangular trellis and try to place it in a spot where we have less rocks and soft soil. Using this as described I have about 5 extra Part B's. ... show more
