I used it with my fishing kayak and another kayak stacked on top with all our gear on the pile (about 100lbs), pulled them both down a rough dirt road hill, across a beach and then back up the hill at the end of the day. I wish I had gone this route in the first place. I wasted too much money, and time, on ride on top carts. Any kayak with scupper holes this will work. Good material (I think 304 SS), great welds, nice wheels, simple to assemble, easy to store on board so you don't have to run a big cart back to the car. Just got it so time will tell. We'll see how it does with a load (250# max) in the field and salt water. Very happy so far, thanks. Just wish the vertical posts were about 4 inches taller for angular stress relief. Reviews looked good, the item looks good, unfortunately it will not work with my kayak--I failed to realize that the reviews were not all for the model version that i had ordered. Based on the design of this one, I will order one that had the ability to adjust the width of the brackets--I had thought this model did based on what I had read n reviews-but did not realize they were talking about a different model ... show more

Great dolly for price. Strong, light, 1-2 mins to assemble and store. My tandem kayak is near 100lbs and that is no problem. The wheels work fine on hard surfaces, gravel and shell where I've been. I might look for Baloon type for loose sand....beaches. In a couple weeks of salt water use no sign of rust on stainless appearing parts. It's quick to adjust to the width of kayak supper cart holes, two stainless wing bolts. The unit floats which helps at the ramp. As you hold it underwater to find the kayaks holes it's buoyancy pops it up and holds it in until you drag the kayak out. This was much cheaper than Hobie units and seems to be a value. ... show more

The cart puts together with no tools and a little bit of common sense. The put-in at one of the popular river floats near us is 500 + yards down an unkept pig path. This cart makes transport a breeze, plus it collapses down and stows on my kayak for the trip. I’ve used universal kayak carts from the big box stores and been so frustrated by the time I got both kayaks to the river I was done for. I used this cart for the first time and have already made up my mind to order a second one for my wife’s kayak. Bought this kayak cart 6 months ago was finally able to use it since the weather broke 2nd time out the kickstand holes widened out on both sides, now it won't stand on it's own. I love the cart just wish it was the updated version with the aluminum kickstand. Too late for return but would love if they would send me the new style kickstand... updated to 5 stars after they sent me the new upgraded model with metal kickstand, great customer service ... show more

I have used this to move my kayak all summer and it has worked way better than my friend which is a version that straps the kayak on top. I would not use one with the straps he dumps the kayak every time. The concern with a style like this one that goes in the scuffer holes is that it could damage them making the kayak unusable. I have not had any issue with that so far and to be honest, I don't think I will. the wheels work well on most surfaces, except fine gravel. On fine gravel, they don't really spin and you end up kind of dragging it. ... show more

I bought this for a 12 foot fishing Kayak. The instructions are a bit confusing but there are not very many variations of how to put this together so even if you toss the instructions you would put it together in a way that it would work the same as if you did it as instructed. Seems that the only think that is affected is the measure on the shaft so that and keep it centered. Still difficult even with the measure marks so I just did it by eye. Close enough and I did not see any issues if it is slightly off center. How much it helps move your kayak seems like it depends on where the holes in you kayak are located. In my case it is at the rear and I can move it easy enough. Wish it had something to make sure they stay in the holes when you tip your kayak on the side or lift it up . I will probably come up with a modification of some kind. My other cart has a simple way that I do not think would add to the cost much and works great. I do this alone so it is not hard but does add to the the difficulty just a slight bit since I have to hold it into the holes until you can get som weight on the wheels. I have to put the kayak on the side and when rolling it to the wheels you have to hold the wheels in plance as you flip the kayak. Not a reason why I wish I did not get this as the other ones where you set the kayak on top of the wheels always was a pain to use since never really found a way to keep it from twisting.
