Overall its a nice gaming keyboard, I used it with my xim apex to play it on my ps5. It's working fine, no noticeable issue. One thing to be aware is that the keyboard is a little bit small, if you have a very big hand you may find the keys are small.

    • Superb mechanical, clicky-blue, gaming keypad.
In my experience, gaming enthusiasts, especially so called hard-core gamers, have above average knowledge and understanding of computer and peripheral design, building, setup, tweaking, and use-characteristics. In the realm of key- pads and boards, there are three main types: membrane, mechanical, and mecha-membrane. Each has its pros and cons and each satisfies the demands of setting (e.g., office, school, gaming dungeon) and primary use (e.g., casual, word processing, gaming). There are also newer optical-analog switch key- pads and boards that are in a class by themselves. It is beyond the scope of this review to discuss each type and I would encourage the reader to familiarize themselves with each type before making a purchase. For the purposes of this review suffice it to point out that this HIWINGS keypad is a mechanical keypad and that, by and large, gamers tend towards mechanical key- pads and boards. WHY A (GAMING) KEYPAD VS. KEYBOARD The short answer is that they require less space on the desktop by eliminating keys/functions not needed in gaming); improved ergonomic design, compact arrangement of essential keys eliminating hand repositioning; macro buttons, quick keys, USB ports, 3mm headphone jack with volume control. TYPES OF SWITCHES There are three basic mechanical switches (the mechanism that facilitates pressing and releasing the keys): linear (black and red), tactile (brown), and clicky (blue). Each switch has its peculiar characteristics and gamers in-the-know prefer a switch that matches the demands of the bulk of the type of games they play. FPS, RPG, action, and combat games tend to dominate the PC market and gamers tend to prefer linear-red switches. The HIWINGS keypad uses clicky-blue switches. Again, study what’s available and chose based on specific needs. MACROS Macros are a set of commands or command chains to produce a desire action/effect. For example, in a Windows PC, CTRL + ALT + DEL is a macro that opens a window that has various paths. If one could assign that three-key action to one key, that key would be a macro key. In gaming, a macro key can considerably speed up a repetitive series of actions, requiring multiple key strokes by synthesizing the multiple key strokes to one key stroke – the macro key. Macros are not allowed on online games because of their significant advantage. HIWINGS keypad has two macro keys that can be individually programmed. RGB LIGHTING I am not a superfluous bells and whistles guy, especially in the realm of PC computing and gaming. There is, to me, no greater waste of resources than RGB computer lighting. I build or upgrade my gaming computer every three years, depending on component advances (CPUs, mobos, GFX cards, etc.). The growing emphasis currently placed on RGB lighting, which can add considerable cost to cases, fans, cards – you name it – is surprising to me. Think about it, you are engaged in an intense battle: do you care about – or even notice – the pretty colors dancing around inside your computer case? My case is under my desk: I cannot see it when I am computing. However, I will pay a premium if I decide on a case with clear panels to watch the dancing colors instead of those drab, solid black panels. Furthermore, if I am concentrating on my gaming, those dancing colors can be distracting. How about dancing colors on your keypad – right under your nose – while you are gaming? Sigh . . . , the sad reality is, as we used to say back in the day, I am not hip! If you are hip, then you will be delighted to know that the HIWINGS keypad affords 14 different RGB lighting schemes. AMBIDEXTROUS DESIGN The palm rest shape suggests, to me, that this keypad is made for a right-hander (left hand on the pad, right hand manipulating the rodent. I am left-handed. Not only is the palm rest shape not an issue for me, the position of the two macro keys and the M and B alpha keys seems to favor the right hand, i.e., it is easier for me to press these four keys with my right thumb than it would be using the little finer of my left hand. Regardless, I think this is suited to either hand. WHAT’S INCLUDED The keypad, very basic instructions, and an OTG (On The Go) USB-A to USB-C adapter. SUBJECTIVE The HIWINGS keypad is a basic, well-made, well-designed, well laid out, and, yes, a pretty gaming keypad. It does not have and I do not need a USB port (I have a large capacity, switchable A/C-powered hub); it does not have and I do not need a 3mm headphone jack (my audio system has one); it is roughly 8.75" x 6.75" which leaves me plenty of room for my gaming notebook. I prefer adventure/puzzle games like Myst, Portal, Uru, Quern, Syberia 1 & 2 – a game I believe most women, especially, would love), Obduction, et al., all of which require copious note taking. One could argue that, if space is not needed, a gaming keypad is not needed. Yes, but, if one is going to be gaming for 2,3,4 hours, perhaps, the comfortable compact keypad is a blessing. REGARDING THE REVIEWS “Not able to change light colors and clicks a bit louder than I would like.” There are 14 color combinations and loud clicking is EXACTLY what clicky-blue mechanical keyboards do – by design. Again, read about mechanical keyboards and avoid surprises. “The keyboard is a little bit small, if you have a very big hand you may find the keys are small.” Again, by design, the keypad is compact to eliminate hand movement to reach keys. However, I have three keyboards all of whose keys measure 15mm x 12mm. The HIWINGS keys measure 15mm x 12mm. The dimensions of this keypad, from top-row numeric keys to the bottom row alpha keys is the same as my keyboards: 71mm. My hand is 9.5 inches: large according to online glove measurements; I have no complaints re keypad size. “They should have left the "B" key in the correct location. Some people use their right hand to use "B", but I use my left hand... so when split typing, or even when gaming, the "B" key is missing. They did put it on the hot bar to the left, which is nice, but I would have preferred to see N or L (depending on the game) instead.” This is what I was referring to in the Ambidextrous Design section, above. If I were right-handed as the reviewer apparently is, I would think the same. However, as a lefty, with my right hand on the keypad, the alpha B is right under my thumb. Lefties unite! ... show more

This is great when you want to use less space for equipment, while still retaining semi-traditional keyboard controls. I use it for two different tasks - when I have my newborn kid on my desk or in my lap, this helps a lot with gaming - and for split typing with this keypad on the left, and a small keyboard on the right (again, with my kid in my lap while in an armchair). The keys are nice and clicky, and the light is bright. I do have one mentionable complaint about the key decisions. They should have left the "B" key in the correct location. Some people use their right hand to use "B", but I use my left hand... so when split typing, or even when gaming, the "B" key is missing. They did put it on the hot bar to the left, which is nice, but I would have preferred to see N or L (depending on the game) instead. I do personally miss the Windows key, but most people don't like that key when gaming, so I get why it was removed. I also wish that it had a removable cable, but the cable that came with it has 62 inches to work with, so not bad. I highly recommend this if you need a gaming keypad, but want it to be minimally modified from a normal keyboard. It's great for couch gaming, or gaming when dealing with significant obstructions. I never thought I needed one of these, but thought I would try it out. Now, I can't live without it! First, it is USB so just plug and play. You can change the light intensity and pattern if you wish. Next, the wrist rest is actually very comfortable. I wish it was just a little bit softer, but it is much better than my keyboard. The gaming keys are easier for me to access this way, and now I have more space for my mouse to move. Apparently you can program macros into the keypad, but I have not done this. I am in love with this little keypad, I wish I had it sooner. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. This is great for gaming. My husbands a streamer and I got this for him to us while playing several the games he streams. It took a little getting used to since he was using a full sized keyboard in his tiny desk but this is great bc he has way more room now. He really enjoys using this for his games now. So glad I decided to get him this. Highly recommend. The programmable macro keys are a big bonus too. Also the seller was great at answering some additional questions I had too. ... show more

    • How can I not love it better!
What a convenient gaming keypad to use. I don't have to bear with all the full keyboard buttons that most of which are useless. The metallic sound when you press it down is so touching that makes you totally enjoy it when playing PUBG. Only one thing that needs to change is the location where you put M button. I always Ctrl+M or something to close the whole sound system in PUBG, which can really get you lost in the match. To sum up, it's a good one at a reasonable price. Not regret it! ... show more
