  • Very cool, even if you aren't a professional
The microphone is very to standards that I have allowed a FEW DJs to test. The main console, however, is the best part of it. It is portable, with MANY features/options, that allows a person to be able to be able to have an "on the spot" ability to dj, podcast, or just have fun, on the spot. It connects, easily with many inputs, and outputs, and still experimenting with some of the other options. ... show more

  • Very nice starter kit for podcasting, streaming.
While this audio mixer kit has a few limitations, it is a nice, inexpensive way to get started with recording podcasts, streaming, etc. It comes with most accessories that you would need to start. You get a condenser mic which includes an isolated mic stand, a pop stopper, and set of ear buds. The ear buds aren't really ideal for this setup. Ideally, you would want some over-ear headphones to wear. But, at least they threw something in. The mixer is a pretty cool little device. When connected, it shows up as a usb sound source in windows. It is usb powered and also has an internal battery. So it can be used without an external power source. The sound quality of the mixer, using the included mic, and great. Voice comes through very clearly. The microphone is very sensitive and easily picks up your voice. I should note that the condenser mic requires 48 volts phantom power, which the mixer provides. There are 5 separate volume sliders. They control mics 1 and 2, music, monitor and output. Mics 1 and 2 are the volume levels for each mic, obviously. The music slider is volume for any bluetooth device that you pair with the mixer. You can connect your phone, or any other bluetooth device, and use it to play music through the mixer. There is a button that will play/pause he music. However, you can't skip, forward or perform any other functions from the mixer. You will need to do that manually from the bluetooth device. The monitor slider is volume for your headphones or monitor speakers and allows you to listen back to everything. Output is the overall output level for everything and utilizes the 'Live' output on the rear of the unit. Each channel has it's own mute function, except for output. There is a mode button which enables you to cycle through several voice changing effects. This was a surprising feature that I didn't expect. You can choose a female voice, male, loli (think anime female), monster, cavern and acoustic. Acoustic is the normal mode. The voice changing feature actually sounds pretty convincing. There are also four additional buttons, A thru D, that is used to trigger sound effects or any other recordings that you save to the button. The mixer a pretty simple to use. However, I see a few limitations. It has two mic inputs, but only one is xlr. It would be nice if it had two xlr inputs. Mic 2 is for a dynamic mic, which isn't nearly as sensitive as a condenser and really not suited for podcasting, etc. Another limitation is the sound effect buttons. You need to record them using the mic inputs. So, I can see it being a bit cumbersome getting the sound effects that you want configured into each slot. In all, this is a nice little usb mixer for podcasting or live streaming. Check it out. ... show more

  • A completely functional and serviceable kit
To start off, I want to inform everyone that this kit is a beginner bundle. Most of these items are designed with economy in mind. That’s not to say they don’t work. I simply mean there is nothing fancy here. It gets the job if you are trying to get your hands dirty with the basics of podcasting, let’s plays, gaming and recording. Let’s also state that the “manual” is a bit of a mess. It’s not even a manual at all as it’s just a single sheet of paper with a front and back. I am resourceful enough with technology to figure it out though. The rough English grammar is just barely comprehensible enough to ascertain what does what and what one needs to do in certain situations. The mixer (or “live sound card” as it’s referred to in the contents) charges up with the included male to male USB-C cable. I found this to be a little bit of an inconvenience as I don’t have any type C adapters or chargers. I’m likely not alone in this. I have USB A chargers and lightning chargers and micro type B chargers but not any USB-C chargers. Thankfully I was able to charge it with one of my laptops. Anyway while it was charging the power button illuminated red then illuminated green when it was finished. Ok, so far so good. The mixer turns on just fine (after you hold it for a couple of seconds) and the buttons are there to greet you with their dazzling colors. This is pleasing to look at but how does it operate? All the ports work as intended. I used my nice pair of studio Senheiser headphones instead of these wired earbuds. I attached the microphone to the mixer with the included XLR cable. I push the phantom power button (labeled as 48V on the front) And success! I can speak into the microphone and hear the sound back through the headphones. Turn the fader down or press mute and my voice is silenced. Everything seems to be working just fine. Then I get to the voice effects. You begin to shift through them by pushing the “mode button”. I’m not a fan of these effects. They sound a bit too strange and way too fake to be used practically. The “dry” setting is the default and nothing special which is fine. The only voice effect I could see using is the “KTV” setting. It’s simply a vocal pass-through with a decent amount of reverb. I was able to piece it together from the manual sheet but it is possible to record four 30 second audio clips. They are saved to the “A, B, C & D” buttons. It was a little tricky to get a handle on at first but it requires the user to hold the button the entire time to record. When finished, let go. This wasn’t too bad but it is definitely a rather substantial drawback. A hands-free option would have been plenty viable. Why not program it so one 3 second hold of the button begins recording then another press ends the recording? And now let’s talk about the microphone. Besides the mixer, it is the most important part of the package. There was a little bit of assembly though it’s not terribly complicated at all. Just a few pieces. Once it’s all together, it looks rather nice on your desk. It allows for enough options to position it at various angles. Though if one desires a larger arm with a bigger reach, it’s feasible to acquire a decent microscope stand. Used with the “live sound card” the microphone is just ok. When you playback anything recorded with it, one is led to believe the microphone is rather shoddy. It just didn’t sound too good. But that may be the mixer playing a huge role in that assertion. So I wanted to give the microphone the ultimate test and use it with my little home studio. I linked it up to my Focusrite Scarlett 8i6 interface using the XLR cable which was then ran into my MacBook Pro running GarageBand. And it really seemed to come alive here. Lots of clarity. I tested its vocal capture capabilities and it sounds good although it seems as if my MacBook Pro and interface are doing most of the heavy lifting here. In other words, I am not willing to give this microphone that much credit. This is a condenser microphone so I had to test a musical instrument with it. I maintained the same setup with the Focusrite and my MacBook Pro running GarageBand. I set it to record my acoustic guitar. I had some difficulty with some feedback and noise but I was able to wiggle the XLR cable a bit near the connector to silence it. Could be the result of a cheap XLR cable. That said, with a bit of effort, I was able to use this to cleanly and clearly record the acoustic guitar. It sounded alright but I feel like my Samson CO2 condenser microphone captures acoustic guitar better. For the money, all in all this is a good kit to get your feet wet with recording, podcasting and gaming. You could do worse but you could do better. I have some reservations about some of the pieces but most people who are only casually dabbling may not find many issues at all. For me I’d give the whole package a 7 out of 10. ... show more

  • A good platform for beginners
Although far from professional, with the price point and all that is included this is a nice place for a beginner to get familiar with the functionality and to discover with experience what improvements or upgrades they might need later. The sound quality is fair with just an average performing condenser mic. There are some fun features like the voice embellishment and recording function, but still only entry level at best. I can recommend this product, only if you are just starting out and do not expect to be blown away by performance. ... show more
