I've owned Gaggia super automatic espresso machines for about 15 years. My old one died (I forget the model, but it was fire), and I needed a replacement. I bought the Brera, and returned it after one day. The Magenta is continuing the legacy of Gaggia quality. The grind is perfect, and brings out the essence of the coffee beans like no other. The interface is decent, although some backlighting for the actual spot to press to make selections would help the design. The indent to fit taller tumblers works perfectly, and I can leave my thermos resting without worry. The feature to save settings is pretty awesome, and an upgrade from older model. I DO NOT LIKE Gaggia's drip tray design across their entire lineup, but the balance on the Magenta is not bad. ... show more

Definite bank for your buck. Espresso is consistent, adjustability of the grind and how hot to brew each drink is a must. A very consistent machine. Cleaning is easy. Even the deep clean, which we do about once a month is straight forward and simple. Once you figure out how to remove the brew chamber and replace it easily. We upgraded from our previous Gaggia super automatic. The touch screen and drink options. Really add a great value. If you always want to be able to grab an espresso or coffee to go in the morning, be sure to fill the beans and the water reservoir the night before. ... show more

    • Simply does not deliver an acceptable espresso.
As an Italian citizen I love my espresso and am an admirer of Italian engineering and ingenuity. The Gaggia Magenta has a chic look and smooth operation. Unfortunately the plastic brew group and supposedly conical burr grinder cannot grind, tamp and extract a good espresso. I tried multiple grind, dose, temperature and brew strength settings with the highest quality fresh medium to dark roast arabica beans and gave up in frustration. I regret to say that not one attempt was close to acceptable. So the product has been returned to Amazon and it is back to manual tamping and extraction on my espresso machine. It hurts me to give up on my co-citizens' genius and talent. ... show more
