  • Excellent results
What I like: + Simple to use + Large can of brake clean + Good looking end result What I don't: - Included paint brush is worthless - It is pretty expensive for paint - Foam packing peanuts Fairly simple well packed kit, paint, hardener, crappy paintbrush, decals and a lots of little messy foam peanuts. Please keep in mind that this G2 Paint Kit only only one part of the entire painting process (the other is labor). If you've ever painted anything half decent you'll know that to get good looking results you want to put a lot of effort into preparation. What this means if you'll want to take your time getting your caliper surfaces spotless to give the paint a good surface to bond to. The kit includes a fairly large can of brake clean to help you do just that. You'll want to take a 3M Scotch Brite Heavy Duty Pad (not included) and work it until the metal is spotless. My calipers went from a graphite gray to stainless steel gray after a few brake clean / scrub cycles. If you don't do this well you risk having paint flake off in the future forcing you to redo the work. Important note: Use proper respiratory protection, brake dust is nasty and you'll be kicking it up while cleaning and you certainly don't want to breath it in. I used a 3M N95 (not included) particulate mask but recommend considering something stronger since the fumes from the solvents (brake clean + G2 paint) had me feeling pretty nauseous by the end of the experience. Once you've cleaned and optionally masked your surfaces you get to the fun part; painting. Pour the entire little jar of hardener into the G2 paint, shake vinously and wait for it to bubble and start applying. This starts a count down timer and leaving you with only 3 hours to finish. You should finish with plenty of time since you will probably spend a little over an hour coating all four corners (2 - 3 times). I *highly* recommend buying quality paint brushes because as soon as the hardener is mixed in with the paint it rapidly starts turning viscous and sticky the little paint brush that is supplied is poorly made and will not hold up as it gets thicker and stickier. I used some Behr's nylon paint brushes (not included) to give thin even coats. The first coat of G2 is one of the most important and you should definitely heed the instructions and apply a thin coat. The instructions say to leave 15 minutes between coats for drying time. This should be perfect for you to go around and paint the three other calipers and come back and do another coat. You can use a slightly heavier second coat to fill in gaps in coverage. I let the second coat sit for a little bit longer and while the paint claimed to be self-leveling there were tiny ridges / rivers. I took a 3M 150 grit sanding block (not included) and smoothed those out. I added one additional thin coat to this and according to the instructions you're done. If you have decals this would be a good time to add them in. Otherwise the wait 2 hours and put your wheels back on. If you purchased scotch brite pads like me for prep you might as well take one (not the same one soaked in solvent b/c brake clean will damage OEM clear coat) and clean the inside of the rims; clean rims help reflect light / glow that will enhance your freshly painted calipers. :) Important note: the instructions state you should give it 24 hours time to cure before driving, plan accordingly. ... show more

  • Amazing Kit
Color: Red
I was able to do all four calipers with this kit with no problem. It was super easy to paint, and looked amazing. Highly recommend this kit over spray bottles. Less mess, and you don't have to cover anything. Brushes in the kit work well, but if you want more detail, I suggest getting another small painters kit. ... show more

  • 3 and a half years later, finally used it, perfect results
Color: Red
This product has an excellent shelf life, it went untouched in a non-climate-controlled garage for 3 and a half years and the paint job came out great! I fully jacked up the car with 4 jack stands. Including cleaning and jacking it took several hours to apply 2 coats of paint to my stock 2016 Focus ST brake calipers. Here's a few tips: 1. As everyone else says, the brush it comes with is... not great. I used a small synthetic brush made for acrylic and watercolor painting and it worked great at getting the job done without needing to tape anything up. Super cheap too. 2. If your car has been on the road for years, you might want to use a soapy cleaner (I used one meant to clean wheels) with a stainless steel brush to thoroughly remove brake dust and grime buildup. I did that followed by a heavy handed application with the brake cleaner the kit comes with to make sure no residue was left on the calipers. 3. I had so much paint leftover after I applied 2 coats, and it seemed unnecessary to do 3 coats. Next time I would have something prepped on the side to paint with the extra paint. It's high quality paint, it's a shame I had to waste like half the can. ... show more

  • Great product, greater support. Be prepared!!
Color: Gold
I bought a can of G2 paint….this was my second purchase. The first project ended up nicely, so when my son wanted to paint his calipers I bought him a jar. The first package arrived in tact. The box was a little smashed on one end but nothing that should have damaged the contents. Unfortunately the reactor leaked inside the sealed pouch. What a mess. G2 support is the best, I contacted them and after sending pictures of the issue, they immediately sent a new box of updated yellow formula. This box arrived perfectly. I had already purchased new calipers to paint and then install on the car. If the first project taught me anything, it taught me there is a lot of down time to your vehicle if you plan to pull your calipers, clean them so the paint will stick, paint them, allow time to cure, reinstall calipers. Do yourself a favor and do this job when you need new brakes. Otherwise you will be without a car for up to 3 days…yikes. So, I began painting the calipers with the newly arrived kit. After the first coat I realize I will not have enough brushes to finish this job. The paint hardens almost immediately once you stop using the brush. Do yourself a favor and go to harbor freight and get a 36 pack of small brushes before hand. You will need them for the multiple coats it’s going to take to create a solid coating. As per instructions, I closed the can of paint between coats. 15 minutes between coats is not sufficient. At 15 minutes the prior coat is way too tacky to begin a second coat. You will need to wait atleast an hour between coats. I placed two coats one night, closed my Jar each time between coats. When I came back in the morning to do a finish coat the paint had hardened and was no longer usable. I have contacted g2 support to see if they will help get me to the finish line on this project, but as of right now I’m unable to install my calipers on my car. It sucks because it’s ready for new brakes and I’m stuck. My experience hasn’t been all bad, just more time consuming than expected. The coating is really nice, what I was able to coat. It is durable and should last a long time. Hopefully for the life of the caliper. G2 support has been excellent. I’ve sent numerous emails and all have been responded to within a day. The kit itself could stand a few upgrades, like including more brushes. 3 brushes will not complete the job. You need atleast 6. The can is a normal paint can. It should close easily and the paint should last multiple days. Unfortunately my paint did not even last through the night and I closed the can by tapping it closed with a small hammer. So maybe a better container or lid should be included to make sure the paint will last in the can per the instructions. The colors are bright and beautiful. Stroke marks flatten out nicely and leave a beautiful finish. If you can get to 3 or 4 coats. Because who wants drips by putting too much paint on per coat? I’m excited to hear back from info@g2usa so I can finish my job. Luckily I didn’t tear my car down to do this job and not in a rush. This was my third time purchasing g2 products. ... show more
