I wore the 1A1 (blacked out) version for about a week and found the display was too hard to read in my most common light conditions. (I'm 59 y/o, so my eye's aren't what they used to be; I use 1.50 cheaters for almost everything.) While the hands of the 1A1 were barely legible, the negative LCD was impossible to read except in the brightest light. It's a fine evening wear watch, but not for just day to day use. In contrast, this watch (the 1A) has a positive display LCD (light background, dark letters/numbers) is small but very easy to read (with glasses), the hands are easy to see at just a glance, as is the mode indicator. Even with it's larger body, this watch is light and comfortable, replacing my Timex Katmai. I do highly recommend this watch. ... show more

    • keeps great time, digital display quite small, blue tooth limited usefulness.
i like this watch but comments will be on bad. Bluetooth - first the app for this is casio watches wit hold school red band watch-other gshock apps didnt have this model. you got to input a # from watch plate. i airport hop. since i donk know when time auto synk is going to kick in I leave it in my time zone while airport hopping and do not auto sync -auto time sync requires fidgeting and this autosync feature will not work well for airport hoppers. the phone finder is also not beneficial-you have to have it synced up that day with bluetooth on. If synced (you basically have used the app that day) it works well bluetooth is helpful for using alarm and manually syncing time and adjusting watch-all the things you can do with the watch buttons are much easier thru blue tooth. every time u link it it does seem to auto sync the time. don't know if i lucked out but this is by far the most accurate watch i have ever owned. 2 weeks and .5 seconds off. no link/update. the hand illumination is barely visible after sitting all night but u can make it out barely (50 year old eye) date is small hand hard to read but i can do it. the illumination button is very very bright and works as a weak flashlight. the digital display adds confusion to the hands so if the hands are over the digital display window it is hard to readthe time at night hitting the illumination button. watch is very comfortable. 1 month glass is scratch free and i would guess that this watch will last a long time and need band replacement every 6 years. I have had extreemly good luck with cheap g shocks. i get bored of em after 6 years and other than bands at year 6 all are original and reccommed 5600 as well as this one 5600 being cheaper and more practical this one being better looking. i would look at the non bluetooth ones as blue tooth features are not amazing and go by looks as the desicion maker. i love the way this black one looks. ... show more

Okay, not "period," cuz I have to mention this watch is: Super easy to read even in the dark. And if you adore the M5610 and want the analogue equivalent, THIS is the watch. Solar powered, works perfectly, dial always at high when I'm out in the sun. The cool hand movements when using the other features are sick, and the time "sets itself" somehow when you give it the time zone? Like magic bra. This watch is mine and I'mma keeping it. :) ... show more

    • happy with watch BUT...
I have another G-Shock Casio watch which I bought several years ago and was expecting this new one to be the same; not so; The GAB2100-1A is smaller and feels not as heavy. Easy to set-up once you download the app. Instructions are included but the instructions on the website read and look better. However, I was surprised to read that you need to be careful with the watch. Perhaps I misunderstood that this new G-Shock watch mean that it could take all kinds of abuse and would keep on ticking. (My previous watch has been thru the mill and still gives the correct time.). Instructions for new watch state otherwise but we shall see. I am satisfied with the functions of the watch and feels good on the wrist. Night light is good and watch hands glow at night. The onboard rechargeable battery as per included instructions lasts only 7 months. Not sure if after 7 months you are to recharge it or get a new one. I have had it only a couple of days.     • No Instructions for Mobile APP
This is an awesome watch, once you investigate how to use it. In the instructions there is no information about needing a Mobile App to use the Bluetooth feature. Not even a mention. Setting the Time and Date on a G-Shock manually is never easy. The Blue Tooth feature for syncing the time is fantastic, but you need the right APP, specifically the one called "Casio Watches". There are others in the APP store, but you need this exact one and then figure out how to use the APP. On YouTube you will find some good videos explaining how to use this APP. ... show more

Disclaimer: I initially bought it, but it got lost at some point during shipping. I got the money refunded; my dad bought it, and it arrived with no problem through Prime. The initial setup with the Casio Watch app was a little tricky; however, not too bad once I got used to it.     • Nice design, but too small
I really like the design, it's a very good looking watch. I didn't like the fact that it's just to small. If your going to use it only to tell time using analog hands I guess it would work just fine, but if you want to use the other features it's useless. Digital window is SUPER tiny. I don't have the eagle eyes used to have so had to send it back. ... show more
