I'm a little surprised how much I'm enjoying this RC Excavator, and I'm positive my nephews are going to love it too. There's a lot of detail in the scale model toy and some realistic components while also built to survive some child-like behaviors. The bucket arm is controlled in a set sequence of the "hydraulic" rods with forward and reverse options and no end-stops so you might not be allowed detailed controls to saw tamp down on the ground, you can run a continuous pattern. The arm and bucket are also set up so it scoops a bit below the ground surface of the tracks, so some actual digging may be possible in a sandbox The rotational base does have some end limits but you get close to 720° of rotation more or less the 680° as advertised. It really could be a good toy to help kids learn about directional control and spacial awareness (like setting it up so driving backward can look like driving forward) The only negative I have is that the excavator's battery bay is a little hard to access and get the 3.7v battery in, so younger children may need help and it would have been nice if there was an ability to charge the battery in place rather than having to swap cells but since two 3.7v batteries are included I wouldn't complain too much although a rechargeable battery for the remote would have also been nice. ... show more

The toy comes with a remote control and you can move the excavator forward/backward/left/right, spin the top compartment only, claw up and down etc. There is also light and sound effect.
