  • Awesome unit, but no native Apple volume control and doesn’t cover single din
Bought an MS-RA70N from JB tools via Prime for $289 + tax and I received a regular MS-RA70 3 days later. I returned that because NMEA2000 is a must for me. Bought the same unit from ShipSound for $269 (no tax, not Prime, showed like 10 days delivery), received an MS-RA70NX in only 2 days!!! Unit works great. I sure hope Fusion fixed the screen blank issue. Got 3-4 years each out of my previous 2 MS-IP600 before the screens went blank. I’ll probably never use the add on Sirius/XM, so I didn’t really need the NX. The NMEA is awesome. See photos of it connected to my Lowrance HDS7 Gen3. Love controlling it from my touchscreen nav unit. Fusion app works perfect from my phone, but no Apple Watch support. Be warned: if you want to use iPhone or Watch native Bluetooth control directly to the unit, you can’t control volume. I simply left my Fusion BT-100 on the aux input and bingo!!! Watch and iphone control with volume. That’s borderline loss of a star. Be warned #2: much smaller than the MS-IP600 that I replaced. I had some ugly areas I wanted to hide so I neeed a mounting plate. The RA-200MP mounting plate is too small. See my review of it. I 3D printed my own mounting plate out white of non-yellowing ASA filament. See photos. Perfect! Fusion should offer this. 3 stars for install because it doesn’t really cover where I removed my previous Fusion single din. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the unit and I’m happy with my choice. I LOVE the NMEA control too!!! ... show more

  • ( the old discontinued 4 ohm units ) Sounds great. Noticibly better than the old Sony head unit ...
Works very well but make sure you have every part you need if connecting a remote. I was connecting mine to a Fusion MRX300 remote. Although the remote connects to the RA70N head unit, it does not receive power from it. If you do not have a NMEA network, you will need to create your own NMEA network to power the remote. You'll need the Fusion NMEA 2000 Power Cable 2M (6ft) part number CAB-000541. Grey and black to ground, red to 12v +. The network end will plug into the T connector provided with the RA70N. That's it. But now you won't have a place to plug in the remote. You'll need another standard NMEA T connector. I ran the RA70N's preamp RCA outputs to a Kenwood Kenwood KAC-M1804 4 channel 45w channel amp. (don't want to draw to much power from my boat battery) driving 4) BOSE 151 outdoor speakers. ( the old discontinued 4 ohm units ) Sounds great. Noticibly better than the old Sony head unit and Sony remote I was replacing. Set up and pairing with an iphone took 5 minutes. Bluetooth works flawlessly. Fusion App volume control on iphone got me through the two weeks I was ordering extra parts to connect the helm mounted wired remote. ... show more

  • Love these... bluetooth hookup is quick once programmed.
This is my 3rd RA-70 (3rd boat). Great units.. once programmed they link to my S9 phone almost instantly. Also I like that the one power wire for the unit can wired to a switch on the boat. Even though you completely shut it down (turning off switch kills 100% of power to it if you hook it up like that) it will still retain all settings next time you power it up. And it powers up instantly. FYI I do the switch method because I have a bad habit of forgetting to turn things off... so I just check my lighted switches when done for the day. The app works great too (on my android Samsung S9). Fusion/Garmin you have a great product!! ... show more

  • GOOD BUT COULD USE SOME UPDATES
I just purchased this to replace a Pioneer CD receiver which was installed in a 25' offshore boat with JBL 6x9 Marine speakers, which I recommend highly. It was mounted under my center console. The only reason I replaced it was because I had to go into the center console to manually change volume, stations etc. I would give this KA70N 5 stars, but it has these issues. Note: I just installed this unit yesterday and haven't tried Spotify or Pandora. The Good: The KA70N seems to be built for extreme weather and salt water conditions. Hopefully it stands up with only 1 year warranty. The Fusion Link app works great as a Bluetooth remote. Sound is good, not great, media only design was a long time in waiting. Nobody plays Cd's any more, especially out on the rough open water. It fits in a standard receiver cut-out, but could be a little wider. Easy installation and controls. The Cons: The Fusion Link app does not have power on or off, why not??? The old style LED screen is still in black and white, why? The sound from my Pioneer far exceeds the sound quality from this Fusion. The 200 rated watts is over rated. I now have to purchase a marine amp that is another $350.00. The $319.99 +tax price of a "media only" head unit (no CD or DVD player) is to much. At this price, it should at least come with an antenna cable and all cables for that point. This is a good unit. It could be excellent with a few fixes listed above. You can't go wrong with this unit, just be prepared to purchase an external amp. ... show more

  • Very good for the price
I like the sleekness and functionality at the given price. For my needs, it does not have enough outputs available on the wiring harness provided for a multi-amp setup. I also couldn’t find anywhere where they sell another wiring harness to expand its capabilities, even though there’s a receptacle for another harness just like the one provided. I’m pushing a fairly large system, so I need more than a 2-zone capability, though the two-zone system does work well. Very good for the price. The buttons and knob have a nice feel and the knob has a subtle, but satisfying click with the roll. Feels premium. ... show more

  • Perfect fit
It's what I had in my boat already. Upgraded to a new one so it fit perfect.

  • Great technology and phone integration - Amp could be a bit more peppy
Install and set-up on my boat was very easy. Very simple set of controls. I only had one minor issue setting up the "Discoverable" mode for Bluetooth because I didn't first select "BT" as the source before pressing the menu button. I installed FusionLink on Samsung Galaxy s5 and all options (source, volume, tone, etc) are available on the software and it worked perfectly, even for streaming music. The only negative thing is that the amplifier power seems fairly limited. I'm driving a pair of Polk MM651UM speakers that are mounted in the gunwales and the volume level is modest. I think I'll need to upgrade to external amp pretty soon. ... show more
