We originally bought this to go in a closet as an organizer but it was so nice we pulled it into our main office. The shelves were easy to assemble and can hold quite a bit of weight. We have really heavy books on them now and they're doing just fine. The drawers are cloth with a wood finish print. They don't feel flimsy and can be placed on any shelf. I would say that the structure shakes a little but that could just be because of our uneven flooring. Anchoring it to the wall made it more stable. This shelving unit has very good quality components, and looks nice when assembled. Assembly takes some time as there are quite a few parts (surly to keep the shipping size down) but everything fit perfectly and the pictorial assembly instructions were easy to follow. The 2 drawers are the fabric collapsable type with a solid front and bottom; all you do is fold them open, put the bottom in, and add the handles on the front. Needed an addition for my pantry and as it's visible from hall and kitchen, wanted something that looked nice too. This size was just right and it was a close match to the appliance cart I already head. I only made one mistake in assembly as the instructions aren't the best, but caught it early and was easy to rectify - just don't tighten till all done ;-) I have make large crock pot on on shelf - a large basket with all my tea boxes/coffee on another, then a shelf for olive oils, vinegar and tea pot and the top shelf gets the pretty stuff - candles and a plant. The fake wood printed canvas cubes on the bottom look decent enough from a distance - no one will be fool that they are wood boxes - but they are pleasing and neutral and as they are only canvas work just fine for storing my plastic bags for shopping - nice to have those all hidden but a fingertip away. This is a decent bookcase once finished, but it has a LOT of parts. Even with a cordless screwdriver it took about an hour to assemble - I can't imagine building this with the tiny wrench that was included. The instructions were very clear, and all of the parts were marked well. The kit was also packaged very nicely, with strong gussets placed around the panels to prevent shipping damage. I was impressed with the packing. The drawers are actually fabric, origami-style, open-top cubes, which is fine, just not what I was expecting. I bought 2 of these to spice up my office. Very cute, but sometimes they make me nervous with how they move when I take out a basket. They always hold up, but they sway a bit. So if you are planning on storing weights (I don't know why you would) or super heavy things in this, I'd recommend to get a different one or find a different storage space. However, the storage bins are cloth but appear as wood from a distance. I was shocked by this because I didn't except that, but I don't mind it now. Just know, they are cloth baskets, not wood. BUT they store A LOT. I put SOOO much stuff in them and they hold it well. Back to the swaying of the shelf, I have all of my books from when I went to my university, plus a bunch of other stuff in the other basket. It holds up well, the bit of swaying it does just makes me a little nervous lol. But it hasn't ever fallen over or caused an issue. So it can handle weight, I'd just be careful. It makes it easy to store things and you can put the cloth baskets anywhere on the shelf! Overall, super super cute. About an hour to set up or so. My husband and I got a little frustrated trying to figure it out BUT there were detailed instructions and stickers on all the pieces so it was probably just human error haha.
