Features

  • The Rail Guide Coping Sled Pro is an indispensable tool for making precise, square, clean cuts for door and drawer fronts.
  • When building cope and stick door and drawer fronts, one of the tasks that must be done is to cut the end grains of your rails. This sounds easy enough, however the narrower your rails are, the more difficult it is to hold the stock firmly up against a router table fence. Our Rail Guide Coping Sled Pro solves this issue and helps you make precise, square, clean cuts for rail and style doors, drawer fronts and most any other type of end grain cut on your router table.
  • The idea behind the Rail Guide Coping Sled Pro is simple; hold your rails firmly at a 90 degree angle to your router table fence so you can feed your stock through the cutter for the cleanest, squarest cuts possible. When doing drawer fronts which often times use very narrow rails, this sled will prevent your stock from dipping or pushing in too far and also keeps your hands away from harm.
  • We have included a single sacrificial block with the sled to get you started with your first profile. The sacrificial block helps to prevent end grain blowout at the back of your end grain cuts. Also included is an abrasive strip that is adhered to the adjustable fence. The abrasive strip keeps your stock from sliding or wandering during the coping process. That, along with the heavy duty hold down toggle keeps your stock firmly in place.
  • Many sleds rely on the miter slot for reference. Our coping sled uses the fence as a reference instead. The Rail Guide Coping Sled Pro features a clear acrylic fence for reference which is offset and raised 2 above the base so you wont cut into the sled. Using a fence rather than a miter bar mounted to the bottom means that you will always be parallel to the router table fence. This is a distinct time saving advantage as you will no longer have keep re-adjusting your router table fence
  • This robust, full featured coping sled has a laminated 12 thick MDF base that slides across your router table surface effortlessly. The sled also features a large, heavy duty hold down toggle with a 1-5/8 hold down foot to keep your stock in place. The unit also includes two large and sturdy handles for guiding the sled through the cutter. The maximum stock size is 5 wide by 1 14 thick. Full instructions are included.

  • Great for price
Worked out great for my doors. I only made 8 doors. If I were doing production I’d upgrade.

  • Excellent tool
Excellent jig for cutting cabinet door rails.

  • Coping sled
The sled works fine. The locking mechanism is a little cheap thing but for the money I'd buy again.

  • Thin trim aid
Took a bit of practice but then was great. Used it on thin strips of wood to add trim to a flat surface.

  • Could not get it square
Not sure where the issue is, but try as hard as I might, I cannot get this equipment square to the fence. In a nutshell, the plexiglass has to be square to the sacrificial block, mine just will not get there. It then makes the tongue not square, so you have gaps in the joint, not the look I was looking for. I have tried for hours trying to get it square, but never gets there. The only way it worked is if I adjusted my fence at an angle, unfortunately not sure what that angle is and it will change if you make any adjustments on the sled. I feel there is something wrong on the plexiglass, because I can square the sacrificial board to the fence but have not figured out a way to make sure the plexiglass is square to the sacrificial board. Additionally, I typically start with wider pieces then cut down to the width after it is completed. That way I have two pieces of the same length for sure, assuring squareness. Unfortunately, this equipment had a difficult time and was not able to accommodate the wider pieces. Not deal killer, but the non square was. ... show more

  • Lower quality clone of Rockler
I never did assemble this.. Not impressed by the quality of the individual parts, but beyond that.... When I opened the box, it has a very powerful odor of mildew on each of the pieces, so strong it was tough to wash off my hands after handling the individual pieces inside the box. Not sure what's going on, but I see from some of the other reviewers, that I'm not the only one who had this issue. I returned it. ... show more

  • Top Quality, Easy Assembly, Easy Use
I needed a coping sled for end cuts on a couple of replacement boards I am making for a Seeburg jukebox. This was the least expensive option I could find that seemed solid. And it is! Easy to assemble, good directions. For this trepid amateur wood worker this turned out to be a solid tool and easy tool to use. This coping sled very firmly holds a board in place and is intuitive to use making these vital end cuts a breeze. I highly recommend this product. ... show more

  • Reliable, time-saver, SAFETY. Worth every penny.
I never write reviews. This might be my first one. I bought this sled after searching for some safer ways to cope rails, after lacerations in 2 fingers and a partial 5th digit amputation. A piece I was running through got hung up on something and three the wood, pulling my hand across the fence and bit. I wasn’t looking for a better, faster, easier way to cope rails, but with this, I found it anyway. Assembly/Setup is straightforward. If you can make a decent cabinet door, you can set this up. If safety is a concern, this sled makes it nearly impossible for injury due to accidents like kickback. I ran 48 rails in a fraction of the time it would normally take me. I will be buying more simply so I don’t have to change the sacrificial board when changing bits (though it is a simple 2 wood screws to change). ... show more
