    • Great replacement foundation for bed
We had an old wooden box springs (actually, no springs were in it; it was a reinforced wooden box covered in thin foam and mattress cover material). However, as mattresses have increased in thickness from 8 inches to 12-15 inches, the height of our bed has increased as well. We desired a way to lower that height while still providing good support under the mattress, and this foundation (we'll use this term rather than "box springs") was a perfect choice. While the foundation appeared daunting as a bunch of metal rails inside a box, it was quite easy to assemble. Most of the components were preassembled and fit together easily. Screws of various sizes were provided, along with an Allen wrench for tightening. All of the screws fit in their proper places, and were not difficult to tighten (and, while the Allen wrench was handy, if you have a ratcheting driver with the proper size bit, it makes assembly even quicker). The top of the foundation is covered with small metal slats that snap into brackets provided for them. The whole thing went together in probably a half-hour for a queen size bed. And, once assembled, it was clearly a very sturdy foundation for our mattress, and fit perfectly in our antique wooden bed. While we would have preferred the cover actually be a zippered bag that would completely enclose the frame, we did not think it warranted losing a star. The provided cover works more like a mattress pad, with elastic corners and retaining straps. It has a nice nonslip surface on top to keep your mattress in place. Just be aware that it is best put on the frame AFTER you have laid the foundation in your bed. Best of all, this foundation was only five inches thick, replacing our old nine-inch foundation, and getting our bed height back where we wanted it. Highly recommend! ... show more

    • Never buy another type of foundation!
This product is fantastic. I will never buy another foundation. It’s made of steel, with excellent support and a really nice cover. The best part is we were able to buy it in the size and height that best fit our bed frame. Yes, it needed assembly but it was easy-Peary to put together. The weight was reasonable considering it was made from metal and my 70 year old hubby didn’t need my help getting it on the frame. I highly recommend this product ... show more

    • Does exactly what it’s supposed to!

I had read about potential issues with sizing, but that seemed to be a problem with every similar product I looked at. I have the king size, and it fits my platform bed perfectly. When I bought my bed they told me I wouldn’t need a box spring or foundation, but there were only three widely spaced wooden slats and the mattress was sagging. The mattress also sat low and it was difficult getting a fitted sheet on. This box spring is awesome! I put it together and got it on the bed by myself (middle-aged woman who doesn’t do weight training.) It wasn’t difficult, the instructions were adequate, and it took about 45 minutes. My mattress feels very different - firmer and more supportive, and I am very happy with this purchase. ... show more

This thing is pretty solid. It was super easy to put together, the instructions were simple and easily written out with images. My only complaint is it is slightly, and I mean slightly, not wide enough for a twin size mattress (I ordered the twin sized frame). Otherwise it’s excellent!

    • Outstanding Product and Value
From the time received, the product came well-packaged and very intelligently enclosed. Very easy product assembly instructions with easy to remove stickers alerting assembly notices of what side faces out, etc. to give further guidance when assembling. I did do one boneheaded mistake during assembly, which I honestly totally own due to my haste, which was quite easy to recover from to get back on track in short order. One pet peeve I have had with most need to assemble products is the cheap hardware oftentimes included which have too easy to strip screw heads, etc., but nothing like that with this product. Everything included down to the one size allen wrench for entire assembly. I told my wife and daughter after I received and assembled this I could not wait for the opportunity to leave an excellent review on this purchase, and I have not gotten that way on any other made to assemble product. I can only honestly speak to this particular product and maybe others’ would be a similar outcome, but these are my thoughts on this one and hope you all find them helpful in any way.     • House now smells like paint thinner

Wow, I’ve never smelled a smell this toxic on a product before. I often buy things that have that typical chemical smell, and I don’t usually mind it as it eventually goes away. I used to oil paint and this box spring smells like the old school toxic paint thinner we used to use. Like, I feel like I’m going to get high from being the same room as the box it came in. I put the cover outside to air out, but the metal bars actually have the smell in them too. I bought this for my son’s room and there’s no way in hell this is safe for his little brain and body. Now I have to tie up all the heavy metal bars and somehow get it back in the box, and haul it to UPS for the return. I recommend spending a little more money on something higher quality. Wife and I purchased this after years of having a bed that was too high off the floor. This is a nice and sturdy boxspring. Lowers our bed by about 6 inches. Easy for us and the dog to get on and off of. Very useful good for the price.
