  • Raised logo ruins almost perfect product
Size: 235 x 235mm Style: Smooth PEI
Product would be a 5* review if it wasn't for a small but annoying glitch. First the good. The 3m adhesive magnet works well and the plate is solid yet easy to remove from the magnet. The coating holds the print like a demon but the print pops off easily once cool leaving an almost mirror finish which is great. Now the bad. For vanity (i assume) the manufacturer has its logo in the center of the plate. unfortunately this logo is microscopically raised from the print surface which means that the company's logo is stamped on the underside of prints unless I use a raft. This is a real shame. Most of the time I can work around this but it would have been far better if the logo was not printed in raised ink or had been placed in the unprintable area of the base ... show more

  • I just don't understand this...
Size: 310mm x 310mm Style: Smooth PEI
I'm no newbie at 3D printing, or using PEI print surfaces. I ordered two of these, one originally, and the second to replace it after it became damaged. Both were very different from one another. The first had the rather unique property of being too sticky, and even PLA plastics were bonding so hard, it was causing the very thin surface to come up with the print. I'm a little skeptical to have been told by people to then put a barrier between the surface and the plastic.. I mean, I can do that with any surface to creation adhesion, so it feels a little silly to have a material that is meant to avoid needing to use other adhesives to cause stick, because it breaks itself if you don't. My other PEI materials have never done or needed this. The PEI lifting with the print, I presumed to be some kind of manufacturing defect, as it was only PLA, and as I've said I've used PEI in many firms as a surface over the years, and this didn't seem right. The replacement was the exact and polar opposite. Nothing will stick to it. Nothing. No cleaning. Alcohol, or acetone, or just plain soap and water.. I've tried scuffing the surface with very very fine grit abrasive paper.. It will not stick. It's almost like it has an anti adhesion property to it. We found ourselves going back to painters tape. And it's been years since that was needed. I notice the replacements edges were frayed in manufacturing too.. I don't mind a little of that, but I do wonder if there's an actual problem here with the material. I don't know if I just got unlucky, but I'm extremely put off, not just in my hands on experience with the two surfaces, but in the variance between the two individual items. I will go back to the single sheets of PEI. The PEI is so much thicker that it can take more of a beating. I had hoped that this being adhered to a steel sheet would remove the problem sheets of PEI have with eventually warping, but it seems it brings other issues. In fact, I've missed my return window now, so I think I'll be sticking one to this flexible steel plate and use it that way. I'm glad others like it, but that has not been my experience. ... show more

  • Love the textured PEI.
Size: 235 x 235mm Style: Smooth / Textured Double Sided PEI
The smooth sided PEI looks nice and I'm sure it works well but I haven't used it. I've used smooth PEI surfaces for a while now and they all work similarly. The textured side works well though! Figuring out the offset is a bit tough but that true for any textured PEI sheet. I use 82C for PETG and parts stick very well until it cools down and then it just pops off. I used 70C then 75C at first but some parts curled off the surface even after cleaning unless the first layer was squished more than I like. Why 3 stars? The magnetic sticker this comes with isn't any better than the Ender 3 Pro's. This sheet bows a bit at temperature (I tested as low as 70C) and when coupled with the stresses of a part trying to curl the sheet lifts off the magnet. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the magnet or the sheet. It means that for parts with surfaces 3+ inches near corners I need to use clips to hold the sheet down. ... show more

  • A must for reliable printing! UPDATED
Size: 235 x 235mm Style: Smooth PEI
To start, I'm running an Ender 3 with and E3D v6, BL Touch on an SKR Mini E3. I've always been a little apprehensive about sticking a magnetic sheet to my bed, but this was very easy to do and after over 100 hours of printing on this surface there are no bubbles or any other signs that is is coming off! The hold is very strong and you don't need to worry about the plate moving and it's great not to need clips anymore! I've used this mostly for PLA at 60C although I did heat it to ABS temps and held it there for a while, just to check for any delamination and there was none (Don't worry about the tiny bubbles). Recently I've started printing PETG and it has been working great as well. If you don't know already, READ THIS before printing PETG! PETG will stick too much to bare PEI so you need to use a releasing agent such as Windex or Glue stick or you WILL damage this nice product! I started by spraying a couple Generous coats of Windex on the plate and allowing each to dry using the heated bed and I have had good adhesion and no damage to my PEI surface. After a lot of printing I had to recondition my surface because I was losing adhesion (This happens with all PEI sheets) it was a total breeze and in 15 minutes I was back to printing perfect first layers. Paring this with a BL touch, I don't need to babysit my first layers anymore. This product is worth it and I will be using it on future printers! ----------------------Update-------------------- Unfortunately, 3 cracks have developed from the front to the back of the sheet and this had lead to the PEI starting to bubble and even flake in some places. I really like this plate and I'm going to drop this product to 4 stars to allow for some user error. I printed primarily ABS and a little PETG and then pulled a few prints off the bed before allowing it to cool. I was still left with a perfectly good piece of steel, so I removed the PEI that came with this and replaced it with a slightly thicker sheet from Gizmo Dorks and I'm back to happy printing! ... show more
