  • One of the best Fuji lenses for the money
*: Black
This has quickly become the lens that stays on my camera most of the time. It's small, light, fast (in aperture and focus), and has image quality comparable to any other Fujicron lens. Most of my photography is during hikes and this has quickly become one of my favorites. If you want something small, capable, and weather sealed for wide angle photos, this is the lens to get. I wouldn't say this is a one-size-fits all lens (I'd take the 23 f/2 or 16-55 f/2.8 if I could only have one lens), but for landscape photos off the beaten path where I don't want to lug a case of equipment this is the best lens for the money in Fuji's lineup. ... show more

  • Compact, Sharp, Great Handling
*: Black
I've had this lens for a month now and used it on both an X-T2 and X-E2. I'm a stills photographer who rarely shoots video, so I can't comment on that aspect of the lens. I've had a 24mm or equivalent lens with every camera brand I've owned. I like the perspective and slightly wider rendering without distortion that this length brings to my photography. The Fujinon 16mm f2.8 fills a very familiar place in my kit. Very small and light, it's a good choice for handheld shooting while wandering around town. I shoot mostly landscape yet I didn't buy this lens for that purpose, I prefer slightly longer lenses for that. For me the 16mm 2.8 fits in for interiors and cityscape photography. The smaller and more compact size of the f2.8 handles very well on either of my camera bodies and the quiet, snappy focus means I haven't missed a shot yet. The close focusing capability is at about 6", really good for tabletop shots. I chose the f2.8 version over the f1.4 because I seldom shoot that wide open, often favoring f4 to f8 for most images. If you are all about bokeh and shallow DOF this lens is probably not for you. Yet I find that at 2.8 this lens does do a pleasing job of rendering backgrounds in a way that adds depth behind my main subject. Quite good, not just 'good enough'. Over time I have found that I like two basic lens kits for my shooting. First, a set of prime lenses with the specific purpose of slowing down and thinking about each shot or situation, then a two lens zoom kit for general photography. For Fuji the prime kit is the Rokinon 12mm and the four Fujinon compacts 16, 23, 35, and 50. By adding the 16mm f2.8 to my prime lens lineup I feel like I have a nearly complete kit lacking only a moderate telephoto. Both images taken with the 16mm f2.8. The B&W is a three-frame HDR shot handheld and the gas station image is sooc .jpg shot with Classic Chrome. *EDIT 7/15/19* Added the third image of the dog. Taken at 18" handheld 1/20, f2.8 ISO 800 single point AF. A B&W LUT added, no sharpening. I continue to be impressed with this lens and its image rendering and I can't recommend the 16mm 2.8 enough. ... show more

  • Buy it.

Sure, its one more good Fuji Lens. Its not their sharpest, but it is sharp, and it covers a certain focal range that makes it one of the lenses you want. Do you need telephoto? Do you like the heavy as a brick 18-55mm that you bought because your Fuji has no IS? Well, then, get this lens and get the X-H1, and stop buying. Its all you need, tho the Leica D-Lux 7, and the Sony RX10-3, are also really nice to own if you like an elegant little camera and one with a whole lot of zoom. But regarding your Fuji's..You could add the 27mm, and if need be the 35, but, thats is all you need, as you already have the 18-55mm, right? The X_H1 is a very good Fuji camera, no stupid flip out screen because it tilts like a pro-camera should, and if you add those 3 lenses you are set for years and years. Remember...... a cell phone is for your selfies, and a camera is for your photography. The Len's AF is quiet, fast, and accurate. The lens is not heavy, and the lens will look good on all your Fuji's. Its sort of a medium small size, but not exactly small. Colors are good, ease of use is very good, and you can do Macro@about 4-inches (closest), so thats also very good. Price reflects = a very good value. Get it, i predict you'll like it. ... show more

  • Light weight, fast focusing, excellent color and sharpness.

Say yes to Fujinon 16mm. I originally bought a Fujifilm Xt1 when they first came out and this lens. The camera was slow to focus, colors were off. I ended up selling it. Went to Sony which I liked but couldn't get use to the menus. Enter the Fuji XT3 outstanding all the way around. I needed a wide angle and the kit lens although a great lens wasn't some thing I wanted for landscape photography. This 16mm from Fuji is simply outstanding. Sharp with great color rendition, lightweight fast focusing and enjoyable to use. I now solidly in the Fuji camp. Excellent cameras and lens, affordably priced and great build quality. Overall a 5 star lens. ... show more
