  • A great product, enough said.
Size: 4 oz.
I started using Frog Lube in the fall of 2013. Initially, I just wanted to try it out because my wife was just starting to get into shooting, and she hated using the "CLP" products to clean her pistol. I followed the directions from Frog Lube's website, and "undid" every bit of cleaning I had ever done to 2 rifles. I also did an initial clean and Frog Lube regimen to 2 new pistols (Brand new from factory, never fired). The weapons that were treated were: 1x Colt LE6920 MPBFDE-Anodized 1x Mini-14 With Hogue Overmolded stock. 1x FNH-FNS 40 (New) 1x Ruger SR-9c (New, Wife's pistol) The initial cleaning (or should I say de-cleaning) of the 2 rifles took a while. I Used Frog Lube's solvent as per the directions on FL's website. I scrubbed the 2 rifles down until I knew for a fact that there was not one bit of oil or grease left on any part of either rifle. This took the better part of 2 hours. The 2 pistols didn't take as long, as they just had factory oil applied, and it was much easier to remove. All weapons (disassembled, only metal parts) were placed on a cookie sheet (wife's idea) and placed in an oven set at 170°F. They were left there for about 25 minutes, and then we started the FL application. Each metal piece was removed from the oven, and coated with Frog Lube. We tried both the paste and the liquid. Each was applied to a microfiber cloth, and the weapon part was wiped down thoroughly. We found that the paste melted instantly into the liquid form when it touched the hot metal, but that the paste was easier to apply into small areas with a Q-tip (Like in the polymer lowers of both pistols that were not heated in the oven.) As each part was wiped down, we would set it aside, and grab another part from the oven, and apply the FL to the new part. Occasionally we would check each FL'd part to see if it had cooled enough to handle with bare hands, and we would wipe the excess FL from that part. After the cooled part was wiped down, it was set aside in the "finished pile" and the process continued until the oven was empty. We were very thorough with the FL application...if it was made of metal, it got coated and wiped down. After everything was cooled and all the excess was wiped off, everything was reassembled and function checked. First trip to the range with all 4 freshly Frog Lubed weapons was without incident, and save for a minty fresh smell on your hands, you wouldn't know that you hadn't used any other weapon lube. It worked just as well as any other lube I have ever used in my 20+ years of shooting. The real difference came when we got home and it was time to disassemble and clean everything. We just wiped everything down. That was it. I cannot begin to explain how easy it was...all the weapons just wiped down (including Bore/chamber and barrel). I ran bore snakes (new ones, no CLP of any kind on them) through each weapon's barrel and each barrel was like new. No scrubbing, no residue anywhere on any weapon...just a wintergreen mint smell that was pleasant compared to anything else I have ever used. The next test came on a trip to the U.P. of Michigan in December/January 2013/2014. Our family has approximately 200 acres of land with a house that we use for vacations, etc., and I wanted to test the cold weather reliability of Frog lube. I did not plan on the extreme test that we were able to give it, but it worked like a champ. You may remember the "Polar Vortex" of Late 2013/Early 2014...that happened to be the time that we were "up north". We were able to test Frog Lube in -30°F temperatures on several days. Did the FL solidify? Yep, it sure did. Did it cause any weapon malfunctions? Nope. As we fired the weapons, they would heat up enough to melt the solidified FL, and then as the weapon cooled off, the FL would solidify again. After we came back inside and disassembled everything to clean, we noted the same ease of cleaning as earlier. Wipe everything down, run a bore snake through the barrel, all good. I now use FL on all of my weapons. Shotguns, Lever actions, Semi autos, pistols, you name it, it's Frog Lubed. I no longer wear gloves when applying FL to anything, it just makes your hands soft and minty fresh, and my wife loves cleaning her weapons now as well. When I'm done wiping down a gun, I use that Microfiber cloth to wipe down the wood stocks and my Lever actions as well. I cannot comment on long term storage of weapons without firing...the longest any weapon of mine has gone unfired while being Frog Lubed is 6 months. It showed no ill-effects, but then 6 months may not be your definition of "Long Term". I cannot recommend Frog Lube enough...just make sure and follow the directions to a "T". Don't skimp...over clean everything the first time, and it will work. It has for me, anyhow. I now do a fresh "like new" application of FL once a year for all weapons, but I doubt that is necessary...I'll probably switch to just reapplying when I think it needs it. I apologize for the long-winded review, if anyone has any questions please feel free to ask. ... show more

This stuff is like magic! I've used it on my 1944 Mosin Nagant, my Marlin Model 60, and my Ruger SR9C handgun. The first application is a pain lets be honest here. To PROPERLY apply it you must fully strip the weapon (My ruger by far has more parts than my 2 rifles, but I know my handgun inside and out, part to part so this isn't a problem for me). I don't mean take every spring and pin out, BUT take the weapon down far enough where you know you can get this in every little nook and cranny. I basically bathe my handgun in this stuff as my reloaded ammo is very very dirty (lots of smoke and carbon). This stuff is miraculous at preventing the carbon from sticking to surfaces! I reapply every 400 or so rounds just to reassure myself that I'm not running low on lube though. Here's how I apply it to my firearms: First: I full strip the gun as far as I'm willing to go. Second: I Put my ENTIRE gun (Only my handgun will fit unfortunately) into my ultrasonic cleaner with some simple green and water, or another degreasing agent and run it for at least 10 minutes. Once this is done nearly every trace amount of oil/carbon/etc is gone (It's basically bare metal and plastic). Third: I apply a sheet of tin foil to a cookie tray and set the oven to ~125-150 degrees (Try not to make it too hot as you'll burn yourself). Then set ALL of the parts on the foil-lined tray. (This temp is too low to damage plastic or anything like that.). Fourth: I let everything come up to temp by sitting in the oven for 10-20 minutes. Fifth: I pull the tray out and set it on the countertop and grab this tube of froglube. Sixth: I basically bathe everything (Usually just apply with my hands and a small brush) in this lube, yes grip, sights, magwell, trigger, in/out of the barrel etc Everything gets soaked. Seventh: I let everything cool down to where the froglube thickens up. Eighth: Grab a roll of paper towels and other cleaning supplies I.E. q-tips. Now go to town and completely wipe everything down as best you can. You don't want to see puddles or pooling liquid anywhere. You must wipe everything down very well! Once everything is "dry" from wiping it down you can reassemble your gun and be confident this is the best lube you've used thus far. I usually shoot 400+ rounds through my handgun when I go to the range and with very very dirty ammo it makes everything inside the gun black. The good news is a simple wipe-down with a paper towel generally is sufficient to rid the gun of the carbon! It usually wipes right off! After the range I may add some drops to the rails, barrel, etc and wipe it all down again but that's it! I like to go ahead and add some every now and again and wipe it off without the long cleaning and heating process (Unnecessary at this point). This stuff is very slick, and leaves a dry film inside and out of the gun. It doesn't make my grip slippery, but it makes it a little harder to rack the slide as my hands slip a little more (You may want to avoid lubing the outside of the slide, mine is stainless steel so I don't have to lube it). Overall I highly recommend this lube, my guns absolutely love this stuff! Everything is smooth and crisp. Try it out, you won't be disappointed! ... show more

  • I LOVE IT!
Size: 4 oz.
PROS: WOW what can I say… I read a TON of mixed reviews about this product and really debated this purchase given the price. All I can suggest is to try it. It is expensive but totally worth it if you like it. If you do not like it, then make it a one-time purchase. Either way, give it a try & you may be pleasantly surprised like me. It smells SO much better than other gun cleaners. I use it to clean first and then use a syringe to add it as a lubricant to the firearms' moving parts. I did notice an improvement in the smoothness of my firearms parts after using it. PLUS, it cleaned SO much better than the solvent I was using. I couldn't believe how much dirt was not being removed until I tried this. CONS: It does not come with any tools to apply it in small quantities/drops. I had an extra syringe from a printer ink cartridge refill kit that I used to apply this to small crevices. It works. The opening of the bottle is large enough to fit a q-tip… which is good if you use q-tips to apply it. Otherwise, it will pour out too much if you turn it over…. so in that respect, it is not ideal. I will not comment on the safety factor of this product since I'm not a chemist. I always wear gloves whenever cleaning my firearms. Finally, the smell will stay with your firearm which might not be a bad thing… it doesn't really bother me. I went through half a 4oz bottle deeply cleaning 3 firearms & I plan to order the 8oz bottle when I run out. ... show more
