  • Versatile, Fast, Educational, Difficult to see keypad functions or manual
Color: White
The media could not be loaded. I have no experience at all with scientific / graphing calculators. They were not commercially available until about 15 after I graduated from college. I have always been interested in them though. This reasonably priced Franklin unit looked like a good unit to learn on and so I ordered it. The calculator appears to be well-made, and it comes with a secure cover that protects the keyboard when not in use. It also comes with a 90-page manual and there are some nice sample graphing calculations on the inside of the cover. Unfortunately, the text of the manual is so small that I can just barely read it, even with my reading glasses on. I have to use a magnifying glass and very bright light. This was very frustrating. No Franklin website is provided with the calculator. I did an internet search and found a nearly identical (almost word for word) manual in PDF format (CATIGA scientific calculator) and was able to print it out. This PDF is very easy to read. Now it was easy to demonstrate and learn about order of calculations because by inputting sample problems found in the manual. I am having fun learning how to use this, but the going is slow. One other major impediment is the very small text on the keyboard. Most keys have a major function printed on the top. There are alternate functions for each key. Those functions are written in red or blue text which is very difficult to read. For example, if you want to use the FUNCT key as needed for example problem no. 1 that is inside the calculator cover, you first press SHIFT and then the G-solve key which has 'Funct' written in red above it. Eventually, you will memorize where the common key alternate values are. As an aid, I have printed out a closeup photo of the keyboard. That photo is included in this review. So, in summary, I will continue to have fun learning with this device. If you are already familiar with such a calculator and have good eyes, this may be perfect for you. Finally, the graphing function is really cool, even though it fills up less than half of the already small screen. ... show more

  • Works great for me
Color: Black
I've recently started back to college and my next classes are going to be math intensive: (Trig, Algebra, etc.) I was looking for a graphing calculator to use for my classes that wouldn't break the bank since I still have to get books etc. and we know how much those can cost. This seems to be a great calculator with all the features that I will need. I still haven't delved into all of it's capabilities. The included instruction manual appears to be very thorough and even has several sample problems to help you learn where the buttons are and what does what. I love that the calculator comes with a protective cover that removes and can be snapped onto the back while in use. Also, printed into the inside of that cover are also some instructions and sample problems. I got the black colored model and think that the button labels are much easier to read on the black background as opposed to the white model. This is just from looking at some of the pictures posted by other reviewers. I'm sure that once I start using it consistently, I'll become more familiar with where each function button is located and my work will progress much more quickly. I've already started learning where all of my needed Trig functions are located since that will be my next class. Overall, I'm very pleased with this calculator especially at this price point of just over $30 as of the time of writing this review. ... show more

  • Great for the price.
Color: Black
We all know Texas Instruments dominates the calculator market, especially when it comes to multiple mathematical functions, and they are incredibly expensive. For the price, the value is definitely here with this calculator. I like the look of it, and appreciate the quality and ease of use...for the most part. I removed 1 star because there are certain functions that can't be set/saved, and if you lose the manual then you could very well be stuck. The calculator has a nice weight to it, and feels durable in your hand. For $33.99, you really can't go wrong with this one. ... show more

  • Great graphing calculator, amazing price.
Color: White
I'll be honest, I can't do math and there's no way I'd need a graphing calculator, but my nephew did so I picked this up for him. It does everything he's needed so far. I threw a few things at it from my brief time in advanced classes and it worked exactly as I'd expect. It feels like a nice sturdy product and I like the white color. I'm really blown away by the price considering a TI-86 cost me $150 in 1997 (that's almost $300 today). The TI-86 was programmable so it could do more, but I didn't need it for any more than the functions that are on this dude that costs a mere $20. This is a great deal for a nice, capable, sturdy calculator. ... show more

  • Basic Graphing Calculator
Color: Black
One thing I have to say. Don't lose the little manual that comes with it. I could find nothing on the calculator on the internet.
