This rug is as soft as a shitzu's tummy. Now if you've never felt a shitzu's tummy, let me tell you it is soft. It is so soft that you find yourself petting it -- with the rest of the dog -- at every chance you get. That's how this rug feels. You step onto it and your feet have a moment of "ahhhhh I have entered the promised land." It's soft. It's fluffy. It's decently sized. It's well made. Basically, it's the rug version of a snuggly puppy except for that it's PINK, which coincidentally matches my daughter's room. What more is there to ask for in a rug? I would buy it again and again. A great rug for what you are paying. My son wanted a rug for his room and picked this one out. I am not sure that it would hold up to a lot of wear and tear, spills, cleanings, etc., but we are very happy with it. We have used the handheld vacuum on it and taken it out to shake it and both work well. It is very soft, but could use a pad under it.
