  • Works good for cheap welding rod
Style: Rod
If you can buy it from someone close to your home, mine seem to have been stored in a place where there was moisture so I had to bake mine to get them to work right. (If your welding rod flux seems to be a little soft put it in the oven until the flux hardens up and dries out and it will work better. Came fast good value works moderately well I would use it in a pinch. ... show more

I got these to do my first welds with because I heard that 6013 is a good beginners rod. These are very easy to start, restart, and will hold an arc halfway across the room, which is good for a beginner who might long arc. YouTube suggests that many beginners have problems with creating worm holes that make the slag hard to remove. Count me in… That said, I welded a 1” steel plate farm plow blade shank to a piece of 3/8” plate with a whole bunch of passes with a 120v welder. Hasn’t broken yet, and my welds toward the end were passable Welds were much better when I put in 240v supply for the inverter welder. According to YouTube, 6013 runs better on the hot side BTW—I switched over to 7014 when I ran out of these. I get prettier welds and don’t have restrike issues that I still get with 7018 ... show more
