The magic remote is somewhat "the same" one I got with my TV. When that one started to break apart within the control wheel I decided to get a backup unit. I switched to the new remote and lost some functionality that I had with the original... Set-top cable box and soundbar to be specific. After a couple of weeks of trying to sync these two units with both remotes, I've done my fair share of deep-diving owner manuals to solve the mystery of getting universal control with the magic remote. Bottom line... I would have expected the smart TV magic remote to easily step into the same role as the previous one. Be ready to reconfigure your external boxes to relearn the basic IR commands. Everything about the remote is fine, and it would get 5 stars, except that it won't control the volume on our Samsung Frame TV. Pressing the volume control shows the sound icon on the screen, but the volume doesn't change. So the TV knows that the remote is sending volume commands, they just don't work. With some lag but it functions well, however, only when you really point the remote to the corner of the TV where the receptor is located, much worse sensitivity compare to the original remote.
