Turn off iPhone, pop it in before landing. Turn it on in the airport, and voila, cellular connection instantaneously. My experience; no passcodes, just ready-to-go. THIS THING DOES NOT GIVE YOU PHONE SERVICE (nope that's not what it is for). You will have internet access "DATA" for using maps, other apps, check your emails, etc. etc. (you can have VOIP, like Skype, Line, etc. for actually speaking or doing a face-to-face) This SIMcard gets internet access "DATA" from cellphone towers. Just like your cellphone, gets cellular (web surfing) access when away from your WiFi source. You will have to turn-on your CELLULAR setting on your cellphone, and turning Off WiFi is optional. Turn OFF cellular if you are somewhere where you would prefer to connect to WiFi, like your hotel room or the mall? My opinion; the cellular connection is probably more secure than the hotel or mall free-access. And pretty fast. Never noticed a slow connection like in many free WiFi's. ... show more

I read the reviews on this SIM Card before ordering and I got the details about the APN settings. I put it into my phone as soon as I got to Japan and it worked great for 2 weeks. In highly congested areas sometimes it would slow down, but it would start working shortly after. Any other SIM card you can get in Japan is more expsensive, the only other alternative is if you have a phone with eSIM, which I don't. ... show more

Do yourself a favor and order this before your trip. I popped mine in before I landed. When I landed it did not work, I read the instructions to set up the APN. They are written in English and are very easy to follow. Worked perfect after that. Used it for about a week using it mostly for google maps. Even used my phone as a hotspot. My review is only for the 180 days, 15gb, E-sim. If you put in the right info then it will work. The problem is that the company updated crucial information necessary for the setup but didn't include it in the instructions. Worked perfectly. I installed it upon arriving at Tokyo and it worked perfectly. Was able to use my phone for most data applications. Had more than enough data for the 10 days I was in Tokyo. Reception was good, had no dead spots. The only hiccup was that Google Maps worked weirdly with this card. But reading up on it, it seems like most cellphones would have the same problem using a data only SIM, so its not really a problem with this card, just the nature of the technology. ... show more
