  • The LCD is nice for the information it gives
Style: NDI PTZ Camera Controller
I use this to control some cameras during large presentations. I usually have two cameras on the speaker, and then four cameras on the audience. When someone from the audience asks a question, I can quickly switch over to the audience camera and zoom in on them. The latency isn't even noticeable. I definitely like that I can see what's on the camera right on the controller. That screen is also nice since it shows me the current zoom, so I can just go back to that level if I want the presentation to flow properly and not bounce around during playback. I thought I might have a little trouble with the joystick, but it's actually really easy to use. It takes me seconds to find the person speaking, and get them focused on the camera. I do have a trick for that, since I have the presenter (who is an employee) say something like, "Ok, you in the red shirt in section 4", so I can immediately switch to the camera for section 4 and look for the person in the red shirt, who is now standing up and talking. It's very easy to get to them after I find them. It takes me longer to find them than it does to focus on them with this, so I'm the lag. I have a little experience with PTZ controllers, but this one is fancier than what I had before. It was surprisingly easy to set up. I did everything the way it suggests, and everything went smoothly. In other words, I used ethernet with POE. I actually might have watched the video on the listing as I was setting it up. It really is as easy as it shows in the video. If you have done literally anything with computers in your life, you should easily be able to do this. There's no actual wiring, just plugging stuff in and pressing some buttons. It's actually easy enough to use that my 16 year old has used it for some club related stuff in school. She likes to document everything, and she used this for the first club meeting of the year that apparently decided a school trip or something that I will probably have to pay for. So, it's not difficult to set up or use, and it's quite nice. I'm almost certainly not using 90% of its capabilities, but it's still nice. ... show more

  • Robust and full featured PTZ camera controller
Style: NDI PTZ Camera Controller
My wife is a yoga instructor and is in the process of setting up streaming classes. I'm in charge of taking care of getting all of the necessary equipment ready to go. We already had some PTZ cameras that I'd used for another project and unless I find a better option that's what we'll use. I'll likely end up being the production director, so I ordered this PTZ controller. I've actually used these before in various professional settings and am familiar with their operation. For the price point it's a pretty solid controller. The essential job of this device is to control however many PTZ cameras you have. For the time being, we're going with three which makes it really easy. Theoretically, you can connect as many as 255 cameras to the device but as you'd imagine that complicates the setup process significantly. The controller supports most of the video and networking protocol which simplifies setup. Once you get it all set up you're ready to go. The interface makes it easy to select the camera you need to be active and once you do you can pan, tilt, zoom, focus as well as activate presets and a number of other functions. That's really all there is to it. Learning to operate the cameras well enough to create a coherent broadcast does require getting a feel for the process and the specific equipment you're using. That's the case no matter the use case. This controller does make it easier to get started. Easy to use yet full featured PTZ controller at a reasonable price point. Highly recommended! ... show more

  • Excellent
Style: NDI PTZ Camera Controller
Excellent. I'm a bit of a technical dunce, so this camera controller sat in its box for almost a month before I finally found a reason to test it out in the real world. I was afraid I'd find the learning curve a little too steep so I kept putting off my test, but when the opportunity came up to shadow a professional videographer at a local music festival I jumped at the chance to have him use this controller and show me the ropes. To be honest I couldn't identify half of the equipment he was using on the day. He was recording promo material for future festivals, so he had a number of cameras in fixed positions recording one of the stages, as well as a DSLR for roaming through the crowd. I couldn't say how exactly much this controller aided his work or how much of it was down to his other equipment, but he made it look like a piece of cake and took to the controller with just an hour or so of practice. He was panning and zooming with multiple cameras like he'd been using the kit for years, so my guess is that this is a fairly user friendly model. I'm still pretty lost, but he told me that the price of this controller is very reasonable given the functions available, and he said that the joystick was particularly easy to use. ... show more

  • Great NDI controller
Style: NDI PTZ Camera Controller
My biggest gripe about the state of IP cameras today is that too many manufacturers want to lock you into their infrastructure, their cloud, and their $30 per month subscription. I choose to use NDI cameras because they are an open standard and you can use them how you see fit. This controller goes a long way in making that dream a reality. It connects to many NDI cameras and allows control (to the extent the cameras allow) of pan, tilt, zoom, focus, aperture and other parameters. A built-in switcher lets you select from dozens of attached cameras, and the 3” LCD screen gives you visual indication of performance. If you do live event streaming, this controller is a must! ... show more
