    • Amazing job and super easy
First time out of the box - it literally took me longer to set this up than to do a full haircut. Next time it will undoubtedly go faster. Before ordering I looked at several imitators, read a lot of reviews, and watched a ton of you-tube videos on the Flowbee. Nothing got as good reviews as the original Flowbee - no mention of it pinching or pulling hair or jamming. Then after ordering I waited impatiently for it to arrive. After it was dropped off, I wasted no time in jumping right in since I hadn't had a haircut in 6 weeks and was getting pretty shaggy. I have fine hair so the vacuum had no issues sucking it in. I started with the longer spacer for the top (as instructed in the videos to keep it from sucking in too much hair at once), switched to the medium spacer for the middle, and used the shorter spacer with the tapered foot for the back ear-to-ear. All techniques I learned in the various videos. And you ABSOLUTELY cannot get a more precise cut - every hair is EXACTLY the length you decide it should be. That's something my barber can never do. After a quick trim up around my ears, sideburns, and eyebrows with the pop-up trimmer on my electric razor I was done. I'll probably need to shave the back of my neck and I'll do that in the morning. The only problem I had was with the foot. At first I clipped this into the larger extension but it was very difficult to get loose because you can't pinch the sides in to remove it. So I put the regular foot into one of the short extensions and the tapered foot into the other and will just leave those there. There's nothing I'm going to trim that's shorter that this anyway. Some reviews mentioned that the spacers were difficult to work with but I'd rather have that than have one pop loose and I accidentally cut off too much hair. Other reviews mentioned the noise, but it's no louder than running a hair dryer. And one wondered why there wasn't a lot of hair in the vacuum. It basically pulverizes the hair into very short pieces as it slips through the blades - so there wont be any pieces left longer than say 1/4". I just emptied my vacuum and got tiny snippets and hair dust. And the last point people make is that it seems like a silly idea to cut your own hair. Well poppycock to that - it's easy to do and saved me $40 on the first haircut alone (two more will pay for it). And on my first try I really did gave myself a damn good haircut! After I get practiced it might be even better. The only bad news is that I have to wait a few weeks to play with ... er I mean USE it again! I'll make an appointment with my new barber Flow-ed (get it, Floyd the barber). ... show more

Have used this particular flowbee once and it gave me an excellent precision cut that I’m happy with. No mess because the cut hairs are sucked into the attached vacuum cleaner. I’ve been cutting my hair with the flowbee system for decades - this is probably my 4th or 5th (or 6th?) flowbee. I did put a new bag in my vacuum cleaner first, so all systems were “go.” Use spacers as directed and be careful around your ears - I always use my fingers to fold my ears forward when I am using the flowbee near ears. For me, it’s a cost effective and practical solution and I usually get the exact cut I want. ... show more

    • A New Flowbee for an old hand. Delighted to have the new version of this great tool.
I've been an avid Flowbee user for 27 years. I know this because I bought my original Flowbee watching an infomercial sitting up one night when my oldest son was an infant and wouldn't sleep. It finally gave up the ghost on me and I was super worried I'd have to head back to the salon after so many years of self sufficiency. I was delighted to find that you could still get a Flowbee! After reading a few reviews that the new one was "a piece of junk" I was still worried. I was delighted however to get my new Flowbee and give it a go. The blades were faster and the unit sleeker than the original. It was loud yes, but then it was pretty much always just as loud. While the spacers were in fact cheaply made, they worked fine. I have the advantage of still having my original spacers and was delighted to see that they still fit the unit. After raising several boys and giving literarily hundreds of Flowbee haircuts, I consider myself a Flowbee expert. I can't even imagine how much money I've saved, but frankly it's the convenience that I love the most. Knowing a little bit about how stylists are trained to give radial haircuts for most men and boys, the Flowbee is close to foolproof at giving a professional looking cut. So let's face it... Wayne's World forever made the "suck cut" something that almost no one brags about. I'll admit I've been underground about my Flowbee use for all these years. At the end of the day though, I've loved the convenience, economy and professional look the Flowbee has given. This new one is just as good if not better than the old one and I hope it lasts me another 27 years! ... show more
