*my review is broken down into different aspects and averaged. 3 stars - they gave you brown zip ties to hide the cord and screw covers. But there is a large silver butterfly screw visible that holds the light fixture in place. It's really noticeable and seems silly with all the other efforts to make it all the same color. But it is shown in the picture, so it was advertised. 2 stars - it's actually dark brown not black. What is usually called espresso. I actually wanted brown so in happy with it. But it's not the color advertised. 2 stars - I bought two, and the first ones screw holes were not large enough. Not just stain/ paint but the actual wood. I spent 30 minutes trying to enlarge them with the screws, nail file, or anything else I could find. 5 stars - second one took 15 minutes to put together. And once I fixed the holes on the first it went quick. The directions are clear and no tool are required besides the Allen key included. 3 star - screw covers and the buffers on the base didn't actually stick so I had to glue them. 5 star - solid wood but not bulky. Shelves hold decent weight. I have a larger wax burner, small plant and a few light books. Has an easy on/off switch that you zip tie into place. 5 star - it can take up to 100w bulb so lots of freedom in brightness. 5 star - shades have a nice linen coating ... show more

There are so many sellers of this particular product so I chose the most inexpensive one I could find. Read the reviews and yes some of the alignments are off, but not by much. You honestly only have 2 sides you really look at if you put these in a corner so pick the best sides. I ordered the black and if there was a mark or sometimes when you twist the structural pieces in they rub the paint up. Good news is take a black marker or pen and fill in those spots and you won't notice. I put some 3000k led bulbs and love the light the shades give off. The black power cord does come down in the middle but use the included zip ties and run it to a corner and down and all done. I took a risk buying 2 of these and love them. They are stable. They are tall for the size of their base, but I'll just put something on the bottom shelf and this thing isn't going anywhere. I'd buy them again. Don't overtighten anything and you'll be fine. If you overtighten anything, things break so just use common sense. Also 12 of the structural pieces are the same size and 4 are shorter than those 12, so make sure you use the 4 shorter ones for the top with the shade. ... show more

    • Buy some JB Weld, and know what you’re getting.

I bought three, on the strength of other reviews. Don’t confuse this with Ikea. It’s not. Don’t tighten things......and DON’T assume that they will be in any way “sturdy” or “quality”...... They are about the cheapest versions you can get. And you will get what you pay for. I assume that the reboxed Chinese things I got will be the same from any vendor of them......just buy the cheap ones, because it’s what you’re gonna get. Perfectly functional. A little JB Weld “Quick” (5min epoxy) will address the absolute JUNK nut inserts. Adjust your expectations, and be happy with them. They do what I meant them to......but I’d have liked to have been surprised at the decent quality. Well, that didn’t happen. The only thing that bums me out is that the shade material puckers from the plastic base it was supposed to be glued to. Other than that, I’m perfectly content. Think of these as the lighting equivalent of pressboard dressers: if you gently assemble it, it’s gonna do the job. Don’t assume you will be able to MOVE it and have it survive. ... show more

The main advantage of this lamp is its price. With $47 much better than the Adesso model from Target ($76) or similar models that run in the mid to upper 60s. Also, it is easy to assemble and the instructions are clear. The downside is that the finishing of the shelves around the rims is sub-optimal. It's a bit dull and uneven. The flat surfaces of the shelves are fine, just the rims are weird. Fortunately, you don't see it that much, particularly when the light it on. The other problem is that the linen shades are not quite straight, which makes it hard to line them up with the poles. Again, not something you may notice immediately. Lastly, the switch is not a pull chain, which would be desirable, but a rocker switch in the cable, thus a bit hard to reach. Had I known this, I probably would not have bought it. But the picture they show does not show the cable... ... show more
